Nature = 3D
Matte = not 3D

Outdoors = natural
Studio stage = not natural

Film, at its higher resolutions, does indeed have a "3D effect".
Lots of stuff, can detract from film 3D effect.

WB should have included the original soundtrack.
The original multi channel soundtrack, I believe, is lost forever.

This is a great release for HD disc, because is shows the benefit of HD for older titles.
Both, for format & marketplace.

CD is 16 bit (16/44.1), not 14 bit.
CD is not a "lossy" format, it LPCM.

Is soundtrack would have benefited from a 20/48 mastering.
What loss (lossy) does a digital lossless sample at 24/192 have to the analog master?

Well stated about 'our' expectations of HD.
Well stated about 'our' new found expectations of HD.

Super happy about this release.
Bring on, Robertson Crusoe on Mars!!!

That is a movie I have not thought about for years (maybe decades) and a film I have very fond memories of.

What has been lost forever is the original surround channel which was mastered on 17 and one half fullcoat magnetic film. The front three channels Left, Center and Right were recorded onto 35mm 3-channel fullcoat magnetic film. This, or an X-copy of it, has survived and this is what is represented on this new release. The surround information had to be derived from the front channels.
