Purely a marketing tool. Those famous episodes are well known the world over as black and white episodes, so to offer them in color will indeed evoke curiosity in longtime fans and for those young enough to disdain anything in black and white (I know, it's insane, but it certainly does exist), this solves that problem, too.

There was only one Christmas episode of TAGS (as was the norm in the 1960s) and that was in the first season. I assume that it will be one of the two that are presented in new colorized versions.

Yes, along with "The Pickle Story," voted by fans as their favorite episode of all-time.
