“THE KING OF ITALIAN HORROR DIRECTORS” ~THE NEW YORK TIMES

More than a quarter of a century after his death, director Mario Bava
remains one of international cinema’s most controversial icons. Today his
influence – marked by stunning visuals, daring sexuality and shocking

Tim Burton, Dario Argento and countless others in a legacy that extends far
beyond the horror genre. This collection brings together 5 landmark movies

celebration of one of the most important filmmakers of all time.

horror tales, widely acclaimed for their artistic use of light and dark.
The Girl Who Knew Too Much (2 Versions: International and US): This is the
first Italian giallo film featuring Nora Davis, a tourist who soon finds
more than she bargained for as mystery and intrigue set the stage for a Bava
    classic.
Kill Baby Kill: Another classic from the late 60’s that is still referenced
to this day in such films as Candyman, Feardotcom, and Sleepy Hollow.

I'm curious why there is no release of "Phantasm 2". Anyone know?

There is a couple decent releases here.

I wish Anchor Bay would release a few more horrors like they used to. Im always waiting to hear an announcement pop up with some 80s slashers on the schedule but no luck lately.

It's probably just a terminology thing, but I thought that "Rabid Dogs" was one editors cut of the raw footage Bava had shot edited as he thought Bava would've wanted it, and that "Kidnapped" is an alternate take also purporting to be Bava's vision in some way, but that neither one was "Mario Bava's original film" in the sense that both were done after he died.

However, I definitely don't know much about this movie; can somebody tell me where I'm misinformed (or outright wrong)?

According to a story today in USAToday, Coscarelli no longer owns the rights to the film, although he's currently looking to acquire them.
