Just a heads-up: A major electronics retailer will have a BOGO sale on select High Definition discs next week (beginning Sunday 12/16/2007) - both Blu-ray and HD-DVD, and you can mix and match between the formats.
I have seen the details of this promotion, but I am trying to be vague because of HTF's policy on posting details from a retailer's ads prior to the ad being released in circulation.
There are 28 titles that qualify for this promotion - 14 Blu-ray and 14 HD DVD titles. The critical titles to be aware of (in my opinion) are The Bourne Ultimatum (HD DVD) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (both Blu-ray and HD DVD), since both are being released today.
Watch for more information in The Weekly RoundUp for 12/16/2007 - I know that Mike & Patrick will have the complete details.
OH man...I'm gonna need a second job to pay for all this. With Amazon's BOGO BD and HD DVD plus this exciting teaser. It'll be raining High Definition this Christmas.
I was able to "fill in" HD holes in my collection with 30 HD-DVD titles at an average price of $8.83 each. ($7.98 each for the $19.95 titles, $9.58 each for the $23.95 titles and $11.18 for the $27.95 combo titles). As usual, be judicious and group titles with the same pricing together in your orders.
HD titles with amazing picture and sound for similar prices as the bargain bins for SD DVDS at the checkout line of supermarkets!
Those of us who signed up at Amazon early in the HD game get an additional 10% off of each HD title (HD-DVD or Blu-ray) that we purchase. This was good for a year but was extended for at least a second year by Amazon. I'm not quite sure what the "BN" referred to stands for, but it's icing on the cake during all of the BOGO sales.
I got this ad with my Amazon VISA bill last night:
Save $5.00 when you spend $50 or more on DVDs at Amazon (must be sold by Amazon, not third party) and use your Amazon VISA. Enter promotional code DVDSAVE5 at checkout. *Enter the code in the final window for it to register.*
Place your order on or before February 7, 2008. Limit one offer per customer.
This is good for DVDs, HD DVDs and Blu-Ray.
(This will work with the BOGO if your order meets the $50.)
Argh! I finally had to scratch my Dreamgirls itch.
Also, I only recently went format neutral, and the blu BOGOs have meant I've picked up a lot of discs quickly. Its good to put a little cash towards the red camp.
Got Dreamgirls finally and 12 Monkeys for just under $30.
Esp in light of the way you guys are working it, RAF and David, I could've gotten an even better deal by purchasing more closely-priced titles together, but these were the two I most wanted.
