bought Starcraft collection for $19 today, was thinking about the Diablo 2 Battle Chest but it was $40, i'm sure I can find it cheaper at the Trenton Computer Festival this weekend.

For a company long associated with graphic excellence, I'm boggled by the irony that Macs have such low-end graphics cards across the board. Even the mighty MacPro basically comes with an nVidia 7300GT - which is great until you want to play a new game.

To support gaming, Mac only needs to provide decent video cards; bootcamp can do the rest.

Rumors on MacRumors.com at one point suggested that they would use Apple TV to develop into a gaming platform.

I never really got the point of gaming on a computer. especially when the consoles out there are so darn good. why would you need a computer as well? it's all the same stuff on multiple platforms, so you wont be missing out.

The nintendo Wii is a great place to start. I'm buying one very soon.

This is a very different conversation from the focus of this thread, but briefly: Historically, PCs provided higher resolution graphics, and more processor power for more sophisticated games. And keyboard and mouse are best for FPS and RTS games. Consoles allows gaming to Just Work and enables more social gameplay. They also provide better "arcade" games and better controls for many games with their dedicated control layouts.

Both are good. But they're not the same. And they are getting closer.

Everquest 1
Fallout 1&2
Diablo Series
