Weren't there rumors of a coming special edition (possibly two discs) of this film?

I hope rumors turn to truth! I'd love a extra rich S.E. Perhaps some restoration work too.

    I'd flock to it. [IMG]

One of the best fantasy adventure movies, it's 50th anniversary coming up fast.

I hope Fox does it while Pat Boone, Arlene Dahl and Diane Baker are still with us and can participate!

A loose, and awful-looking, 3D remake with Brendan Fraser is due next year, which might shake out a new edition of the classic one on DVD.

This is from the DVD Empire site:

    ************************
Journey To The Center Of The Earth / DVD-Video
    Widescreen 2.35:1 Color (Anamorphic) / Production Year: 1959 / Region 1

    All-Time Sales Rank: 154

    ************************

That movie has a large and loyal following. As far as I can tell, the only other movies from the entire decade of the 1950's that sold more copies at DVD Empire are "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "North by Northwest". And all 3 have amazing scores by Bernard Herrmann.

Yes, I agree, so long as you skip over the parts where Pat Boone sings [IMG]
