Scott Derrickson's Sinister, which has arrived on Blu-ray via Summit Entertainment is a solid horror / thriller and a gorgeous Blu-ray experience. I guess it's the norm for writers to move their families into houses where horrific events took place. If they didn't, or for that matter stayed out of the fruit cellar, we'd not have a myriad of fine horror thrillers. Mr. Derrickson knows how to raise goosebumps, and how to pace a film for the best effect from viewers. This thing works. And Mr. Derrickson seems to have the quite the future ahead of him. Shot with an Arri Alex (and 8mm), the imagery on the Blu-ray is gorgeous and perfect. Audio, which comes to us as DTS-HD MA 7.1, helps to keep the audience on the edges of their seats. A high quality, low-budget horror production. Best for viewing in the dark. Recommended. RAH
