Echo Bridge is releasing much of the Miramax library at very low prices. Some of the new Blu-rays are quite good, others very acceptable. Willard Carroll's romantic comedy, Playing By Heart, will hopefully be the bottom of the barrel as far as quality on Blu-ray. My personal feeling, especially after having just taken a look at the new Warner Archive DVD of Personal Best, is that they should have brought it out on DVD, and skipped Blu-ray entirely, as nothing is added to the quality equation. While the DTS 5.1 audio is quite good, the imagery, at least to my eye, appears to be a very high quality up-rez from a nice 480i transfer. Great cast, okay film, unpleasant Blu-ray experience, even at under ten dollars. Image - 1.5 Audio - 4.5 RAH
