7.1 pre-amp with amps and a receiver? (1 Viewer)

Can I use a 7.1 pre-amp with (5) Marantz ma-700's and a Harman Kardon Receiver that I already have to power the other 2 speakers. Or, am I better off just getting a new reciever with 7.1 outputs with the ma-700's and forgeting the preamp. Any thoughts?

I suppose you could but a newer pre-amp (a good, used one) or a new receiver with pre-outs, might have features that would make it a better option. What's your present pre-amp and H/K?
