My TV and couch is ~10.5 ft. away from each other.

I'm planning on buying a 56" or 61" DLP.

Which size is more appropriate? Obviously, the 61" is more money, but if I can get away with a 56", I'd rather do that. Anyone have experiences with this distance and set size?

Greetings

The rule is:

HD material ... 1 to 3x picture height
SD material ... 4 to 6x picture height.

(in order to see all the resolution the picture has to offer.)

50 or 56" would be appropriate for that viewing.

I'd go with 56" if and only if you will be watching only HD and DVD quality on this TV. It will look hideous at that distance for SD

I'll be ordering the DirecTV HD DVR service, and the intent is to watch as much as possible in HD or on DVD.

There will be some SD watching, though.

Either size will be fine at that distance. I sit 13' from a 65" Mit's WS65-413.. it's great. If it were me, i'd get the 61" :emoji_thumbsup:

I'm 8 feet from a 52" Toshiba and know of someone sitting 11 feet from a 92" front projector, both look fine to me.

By the end of this week, I will be sitting 12' from 92" Projector and when not using that for HD & DVD, I will be 13' from my 32" 4:3 Sony HDTV.
