So I ordered the 2009 Essental Art House version from Amazon the other day for $13 but received the 1999 Criterion version instead. Having the extra's is nice but I'd rather have the best transfer. Does anyone know if the later release received a new transfer in preparation for the new blu-ray release? I know the Essential Art house versions are typically the same transfers with no extras and a lower price, but this is 10 years apart between releases.

Criterion just re-released this film about 2 weeks ago in a new DVD edition and Blu-ray.

Correct. The Art House release is the original transfer. The new transfer is just a few weeks old.
