February 26. Snowed in in NJ which made for a great marathon viewing day.
-Emergency S1. Pilot movie and first five regular episodes. I have to admit, I really enjoyed the fact that the early episodes highlighted more of Robert Fuller and Julie London, hinting at a possible off-hours romance between the two that was totally discarded in subsequent seasons.

-Adam-12 S4. Episodes 18-22 in the set. The episode "Substation" which has Reed and Malloy doing temp duty at LAX Airport really offers a comment on how much airport security has changed since then.

Today I watched these two episodes:

Ironside S2-"An Obvious Case Of Guilt"
McMillan And Wife S1-"An Elementary Case Of Murder".

Two episodes from different shows......but the SAME STORY! The "McMillan And Wife" episode is a total recycling of the "Ironside" script which was shot four years previously with a great deal of verbatim dialogue reused. The key difference is that in the original, Chief Ironside finds himself defending an old lawyer girlfriend (Anne Baxter) from the accusation that she's murdered her lawyer husband "Jason", while in the remake, Commissioner McMIllan defends an old pop singer girlfriend (Barbara McNair) from the accusation that she's murdered her manager husband "Jason".

The script recycling was evidently done because Susan Saint James' pregnancy at the time restricted her ability to play an active role in the episode, so an old "Ironside" script got dusted off that would enable Rock Hudson to do most of the work himself.

This is a fascinating thing to discover when you know the right shows and have them available on DVD to make an instant comparison!
