I updated my list with:
- Out Cold: A horrible teen comedy. Not funny at all and very predictable.
- Wet Hot American Summer: A spoof of teen comedies that's not really funny at all. I laughed a few times, but this film could've been so much better.

How High
Plain awful. Think of this as "Ghost Dad" after hitting a bong. Not one thing is funny in this movie.
RATING=F

Startup.com
A great docummentary on the rise and falls of getting a internet businness off the ground.
I also like some of the select music pieces they play.
RATING=B-
Bread & Tulips
A generally sweet little movie, that has a real nice story to it. Characters are likeable and it ends very nicely.
Cinematography shots of Venice are shot really well.
RATING=B+
Deep End
Great movie, with fine performance by Tilda Swenton and excellent cinematography shot around the lake(a really nice blue hue filter look to it.)
Bad guy may have been a little far fetched, but it can be overlooked.
RATING=B-
No Man's Land
A fabulous movie, that had the right touch of drama(of humor and hate/life and death) and humor to it.
Excellent all the way to the final shot.
RATING=A-
SECOND VIEWING of...
The Others
First viewing, I had bad company and couldn't concentrate at all on the movie, so I ended up giving it a D+ But, after this second viewing, I can whole hardly say, that I really liked it. Enough to give it an A
Fine acting from the two kids and Nichole Kidman.
great story, although a tad bit slow paced, but still..great scare moments and a stellar ending.

I mentioned Dark Blue World in the 2002 thread but I think it really belongs here as a NY/LA 2001 film. I gave it 8 of 10.
Also Jeepers Creepers which I mentioned in the 2002 thread. 5 of 10.
Working on Majestic and From Hell next.

I realized I didn't keep this list up to date. Of course no one really cares ;), but I feel the need for completion anyway.
Here's stuff I didn't add, besides the stuff just mentioned.
Dark Blue World went to 28th on my list, by the way.
Others added:

The Score - 7.5
Spy Game - 7.5
K-Pax - 6.5
Serendipity - 6.5
Behind Enemy Lines - 6
13 Ghosts - 5
(Jeepers Creepers) - 5
Black Knight - 4
Corky Romano - 4
Not Another Teen Movie - 2

Jimmy Neutron 5.5
Runs a little dull at points for adults, but I would think this film is a true 10 for kids 5-10. I just can't promise that adults will walk away from the film more than mildly entertained.
Shipping News 3.5
Shipping News is so horribly manipulative and poorly scripted I wanted to puke. Remember the Steve Martin film "The Lonely Guy"...now imagine that played as serious drama. That's the first 20 minutes of this film. Yet I am later expected to believe this naive simpleton who at one point says "Has your friend left yet" to start with smart-alec sarcasm. Makes Forrest Gump's manipulation look subtle. The film induced more :rolleyes:from me than I can remember in a film.
My biggest fear is that I have yet to see I Am Sam and I expect more of the same from that film.

I didn't realize I hadn't updated my list since January. Oops!:b
That has now been remedied with multiple changes to the top ten. Still a few more to see and that is going to be tougher now that the local M&P that I rented from has gone out of business.:frowning:

I have No Man's Land coming today or tomorrow. That will leave me with 3 movies on my "to see" list from last year:

All are currently out of stock at Netflix.

Wow, I'm surprised you didn't like Dark Blue World more.

Bully is a polarizer, so I can understand that.

Don't worry guys, I'm not updating our top 10 "vote" list anymore anyway. But this thread is nice to see what other people thought of these films that we are now renting/buying.

I thought Dark Blue World was not good enough to transcend it's cliches. The "two guys in love with the same woman" plot just didn't work for me and while it was cool to see aerial combat scenes again, they weren't done any better than those of the 60's and the CGI was more annoying. I enjoyed the camaraderie of the men, and some of the humor.
Bully was awful though maybe I should have given it some "so bad it's funny" points. Every single character in that film was so incredibly stupid and annoying, I was laughing and shaking my head the whole time. Also the mug shots has to be one the most despicable DVD "extra" I've come across. It was so ineptly filmed and directed I don't think it's possible to see them in anything but the most negative of lights, but the film seems to ask you to feel sorry for them. Sorry it had nothing to do with their upbringing, it's called BORN STUPID. These people are undeserving of the sympathy/notoriety Clark seeks to give them. Or maybe Clark just wanted an excuse to film Bijou Phillips' crotch :D

Added Original Sin (5/10)
biggest flaw - boring script. Only Antonio B. managed to save the film with some pretty solid acting. The rest is just too dull for the subject matter. No tension, sexual or otherwise.
Also finally added Life as a House to my list though I saw it awhile back.
On Tino's recommendation I have The Devil's Backbone sitting here, so I will be adding it pretty soon as well. :)

Still waiting on Gosford Park, The Majestic, and Spy Game. Several other out of stocks have shipped to me recently so maybe these finally will too, but right now it's Soprano's time.

Please excuse me bumping this thread.

But, I am completely re-tooling my list.(still working on it)

Changing the 'letter rating' to the now standard star rating.

Plus, I'm putting everything in alphabetical order

and also adding some recent 2001 title viewings.
