With 22 Bond films (not counting Never Say Never or Casino '67), and the 2 Craig films not part of the box sets (yet), that leaves 20. With box sets of 3 films, that would mean 6 sets of 3 and 1 set of 2. Or maybe a better way to do it is 2 sets of 4 films and 4 sets of 3.

Either way, all the films should find their way into a box set in some fashion. I'm surprised no one has asked the studio about this.

It's odd that no one seems to have Golden Gun or LTK listed in their ad this week. I believe Target and Best Buy listed the last ones and had them on sale. In addition Amazon had a sale for all of the Bond blu rays last month with Moonraker, Goldfinger and TWINE, however nothing for these 2 titles.

Very strange.. If they are the 2 of the lesser selling ones, I would think they would want them on sale? Maybe they will wait a week or two.

I don't think the steelbook question was answered either.

Maybe this is all due to the exclusive Best Buy box set released with the 2 films and Quantum?

Man With The Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me
are my two favorite Bond films. As you would guess, that makes
Roger Moore my favorite Bond. Very sad to read the above review of
TMWTGGM and find that the reviewer (probably too young to
have seen these films in theaters) finds these older Bond films difficult
to watch.

Most online movie reviews are a waste of bandwidth. The problem is these days, anyone with a Blu-ray or DVD player that has some general writing skills can pass themselves off as a "movie critic"

If a reviewer doesn't possess an adequate knowledge and respect of cinema of all eras I could care less what they have to say about any movie.

But the point of a review is surely to discuss the good and bad points of the movie from your own perspective? You don't need an intimate knowledge of cinema history to say whether or not you liked something.

This box has been out for a while in Norway so I've already bought it. I've never seen either of the old movies before, and while I found Licence to Kill entertaining, I'm afraid The Man with the Golden Gun felt more like a good story with too much cheesy stuff needlessly tacked on.

License to Kill is actually one of my favorites, and Man With The Golden Gun one of my least favorites. To be fair though I do like all the films (well, maybe only parts of Die Another Day...)

I do think it's partly down to when I first saw them. I like View to A Kill more than most - which I'm sure is down to the fact that I was 7 when I first saw it at the cinema. I remember being so upset that I was too young to watch License to Kill when it came out - it was rated 15 here and as an 11 year old I wasn't going to be able to convince anyone they should let me in!

Still haven't received Golden Gun, but got the chance to sample a bit of License the other day - it looks pretty good to my eyes, if possibly a little artificially sharpened. Nothing to really complain about though - its great to have the uncut version in full HD.

I'm more inclined to agree with you on that part, Jim. But perhaps there are other like-minded readers who aren't as interested in cinema of all eras for whom a reviewer like that may be useful.

I'm a big fan of both LTK and Man With the Golden Gun. I will be picking them both up.

Does anyone know what the retailers and online stores aren't really promotion these 2 titles for release? Again, they are not in Target or Best Buy's ads. Amazon is not doing a Bond blu ray sale as they previously did with other releases too...

I was actually going to pick up the Star Trek films on blu ray, as I have the 2 Bond films on DVD right now, but after hearing the initial reviews on the Star Trek films (not good, lots of DNR used on old masters) I have changed my mind. I'll be picking up the 2 Bond films. I'm glad MGM let Lowry remaster the picture from the camera negatives and Mi Casa do the work on the audio for the Bond films.

I don't know about Amazon, but the last batch didn't go on sale (that is, end up in the ad, they were available to purchase) at Target until a week or two after release.

Just received the two newest Bond releases.

Took a quick look at Man With The Golden Gun. Looks great!
One thing I noticed was the use of surrounds in the opening hawk eye
sequence as well as the film's title song.

Great point! I'll see what the ad holds in store on Sunday. I'm sure they will go on sale then. Target had Man With the Golden Gun, however I did not see Licence To Kill. Hopefully they will have both for $15 on ad next week. Similar to what they did with the last round of Bond films.

Ron! Great news about Golden Gun! This is one of my favorites and I'm looking forward to the blu ray!

It would be great to see some reviews up for the 2 titles soon too!

I'm glad MGM went with Lowry for video and Mi Casa for sound for the restoration of the films. Something Paramount could learn from with their new Star Trek film set...

: )

I get very surprised by people that come forward and claim that
Man With The Golden Gun is one of their favorite Bond films.

Most people trash that movie.

For me, it was the second Bond film I ever watched. I saw it on TV
in the 70s after seeing The Spy Who Loved Me theatrically.

At that point Roger Moore was already cemented in my mind as
the "one and only" James Bond as I never saw any of the Sean
Connery films at that point. I suppose to this day, Roger Moore is
still my favorite Bond. This is why I can understand why younger
folk like Daniel Craig --- it's whomever you grew up watching.

Getting back to MWTGG, I think the attraction for me is
the funhouse sequence. Always loved that aspect of the film. Then
there's the inclusion of Hervé Villechaize as "Nick Nack" and
Christopher Lee as the villain. For me, it's campy Bond at its best!

Ronald,
I will have to respectfully disagree with you. I grew up with Peirce Brosnan films, and he is not my favorite Bond. The first Bond movie I ever saw was Golden Eye, and that's what got me watching the other Bond films. My favorite, in case you were wondering, is indeed Daniel Craig. Casino Royal was my favorite Bond movie. The 90's Bonds are a mixed bag for me. They are either really good, or really bad. The first two Pierce adventures were AWESOME and the next two were complete stinkers. I do like Roger Moore as well.

I'm going to have to agree with Shad R here and say that it's not at all who I grew up with.

I was a wee youngster in the latter half of Moore's run, although the first Bond I saw in the theaters was a Dalton film (Licence to Kill), and enjoyed Goldeneye but thought the other Brosnan films sucked. But really, I enjoyed most of Connery's films on TV (and later DVD) as my favorite Bond. It wasn't until I saw Casino Royale that I was blown away by a modern Bond film, and in my mind, he's as good (and sometimes better) than Connery.

Huge fan of Golden Gun. I like the SE Asia locations, John Barry's score, Christopher Lee and of course Roger Moore.

The first Bond movie I saw was Octopussy in the theater in 1983. I missed A View To A Kill for some reason, but have seen all of the other ones in the theater. I would agree with the comment that the first Bond you see tends to be your favorite as well.

However, I really did enjoy Dalton when he took over in The Living Daylights. Plus after seeing Octopussy, I saw most of the other films on VHS. So I became a fan of the other Bonds too.

Not sure if it's the 6 year gap, but I always see the Bonds become very different after 1989. John Glen directed all of the 80's films so I'm sure that is part of it.

It's a moot point, but it would be nice if they did tack on a few more extras on the blu ray versions of the films. Goldfinger blu ray included a new extra that was not on the UE DVD. To be honest, I don't know what they could add for some of the films aside from more radio ads, trailers and tv spots.

Ron have you finished watching the film then? Any more comments or a review? The UE DVD looked pretty good. I think Golden Gun was a 2K scan, but I felt it looked very good visually with the Lowry remastering.

Moonraker was 4K as was Live and Let Die, but I believe all of the other Moore films and later Bonds are at 2K.

Uhm, Tim, no, I have not watched any more of TMWTGG.
I have a busy week here and just wanted to have a quick peek.

So is there any word on these being included in a box set? Or are these films to be the two unwanted stepchildren of the 007 boxes?

Best Buy in the US has the 2 films packaged with Quantum of Solace in a box set.

I'm still a bit puzzled why Golden Gun and LTK were not on Target, Best Buy or even Amazon ad / sales this week. I did some more checking at Target and they said they don't believe Golden Gun will be on sale next week. In addition, the 1 Target I did check had Golden Gun, but did not have LTK.

Did anyone get a good price on these? I would like to hold out a bit as Amazon, Best Buy and Target usually does a sale when the new Bond blu rays are released.

Very puzzling why the did not this time, or even mention them in their weekly ad as being released....
