My wife was all excited about seeing this movie, even though she knew it was going to be bad. But I think even she was unprepared for how bad it could really be.

Me? I sat there the whole time picking on the movie (ala MST3K) and enjoying myself thoroughly. After it was over I received a resounding "NO!" when I asked if she was going to get this on DVD.

Congratulations NBC!!!

You've proven yet again how bad television can be!!!

I believe it did take place over a couple of days, but you would not know it because they didn't have any nighttime scenes.

You know, if this DOES come out on DVD, we should make our own MP3 commentary track for it. Hoo-ah!

I missed it on TV, dang :frowning:

HA ha!

So dogs eat there own poo, do you think we can make the writers/directors/producers/actors eat every last bit of this pile of dung?

You are correct, sir! :D

The hypnotist would be the only way people would watch it again.

So I basically fell asleep during the second half. I wasn't going to watch it, but changed my mind. I think the last thing I saw was the governor in bed freaking out about they needed to get more people out of the cities.

Oh well. I guess after all that I didn't miss much.

I can't believe I wasted four hours of my life on that stinking piece of crap. Fox and the people who made "The Day After Tomorrow must be happy with the "success" of the mini-series.
  • Did anyone notice how cheesy the music was? Sounded as bad as a daytime soap opera.
  • The biggest problem I had with the Space Needle/Seattle earthquake is that it was sunny. I've been to Seattle four times and it's never been sunny.
  • It seems like all the scenes shot in the woods were in the same place. Central California looks nothing like Washington state.
  • At least the President had a nice plasma screen TV in the oval office. If "W" had one like that I'm sure there would be a lot more HD programming out there.

I watched 5 minutes of Beau Bridges giving a speech, and I was done. Almost everything from Will's cliche list is straight out of Volcano.

Did they end up doing the all-races-united thing?

Yep, this was about as bad as the other TV movies. Sometimes I think that all of the TV disaster movies have to hire one certain person to ensure that it will be all screwed up.

I could have sworn that the govs husband & daughter were in Northern California. As fast as that pickup was moving, it wouldn't have gotten to Barstow before Christmas, at least!

Ok, maybe I do have a question. What idiot at NBC approved that thing?

Makes me sick Lou Fimple (Fred Ward, "Secret Admirer") sold out to make this POS.

Fred, why man, why did you sell out for this crap? He's so much better than all those second rate casting call stand in extra actors they used for the film.

And I still can't get over the presidents performance. I was so waiting for him to say "my word is strong as oak" (guess the movie)

I like how when it was over, the water was calm and devoid of trash or wrecked boats and how the survivors gazed over the waters at God's handy work.

It seems like NBC didn't want to spend any money on this except for the 3 or 4 EFX shots. As bad as it was, I can't help thinking this could have been a cool TV series ala 24, had NBC wanted to spend the money on more effects and better writers.

Does anyone think Beau Bridges keeps a voodoo doll of his brother Jeff and pokes at it every day with a long needle?

Whoever it is, he/she is probably gonna get a raise, since the ratings were excellent. :)

I'm pretty sure it was filmed in Vancouver, BC. Most of the newscasters are from the BC area and even the newsroom is the Global BCTV newsroom.

Brian,

In addition to the "strong as oak" quote which was being tossed around my house during this stinkfest, we were also saying "hey...I'm just learning as I'm goin' here".

wouldnt that have been funny interjected when the president was faced with a decision (i.e. "get me the governor of Nevada") p.s. I think they should have inserted the first few minutes of casino (1995) right after that...as if to say...hey someone pry the governor away from the craps table !

I don't know whether I'm happy or sad to hear that.

Did anyone else think to themselves as the cast is looking over the new geography of Socal "I know, let's turn that island into a federal prison!"
