Merchandising: Barnes & Noble Adding Disney DVD/Blu-ray Section

I thought that was Barnes and Noble.

There are several good places to buy from that aren't Amazon and supporting them helps companies dedicated to media to stay in business also force Amazon to be competitive.

target has been shrinking their media for a long time now. Some stores just have end caps at best. Others have a bit more, but there have been articles about Target for some time now... all that to say, of course Target will drop it at some point, but why, just why would anyone go with that...

I'm familiar with FilmRise, but didn't know they also made DVDs until I got served a post on Facebook the other day. ...so while looking at their page, I saw them noting these two very recent releases (both on DVD before): I hadn't heard about these releases or anything about them doing DVD...

I have a spent a lot of money at Best Buy since the 90s and a decent amount through this month. It bums me out, as it did with the loss of CDs at Best Buy and elsewhere. But it's reality. The only part that surprised me when this news broke earlier was that they are exiting online sales too...

I ordered the set for $29. I got the movie a year or so ago for like $5.99.

I bought the Shout set earlier this year, though for under $30. I need to watch more to decide if I want to upgrade. Of course, having original music on the blu release would help make that decision easier.

Yes and no. I think it's just (outside of specific Lucas influence) studios wanting to make old similar to new. If that means less grain (aka general Hulu viewer going "eww" as it conflicts with their digital world) then "so be it")

You're right, the masses aren't buying 4K and never will. It's a small part of the physical market. Could the reason that the studios do this to 4K not because of disc releases, but because they are simply "restoring" the film for 4K, whatever the channel may be - whether for streaming...

It's the online thing that is surprising. I know that they have made various shifts to their model since the pandemic, but still. Then again, when they stopped selling CDs, they stopped online as well. It's important to support various physical stores where possible, as well as online stores...

I see it as this - that the studios see physical sales more of a fanbase segment. This isn't totally true, but let's face it, we who buy discs are loyal to it and with each passing year, disc sales shrink, and we are a larger % of that smaller group. They may get some digital sales from folks...

I really like this movie and own the Kino blu ray. I also bought their release of The Black Windmill, which I hadn't seen, because Don Siegel did it, but found that one disappointing.

The free service Pluto has Wild Wild West on demand. Pluto has commercials. though I have watch episodes of shows with few or none. Pluto is a Paramount service btw, so most of the shows and movies are their own.
