I thought that was Barnes and Noble.

Target selling physical media in-store and online in doubt.

There are several good places to buy from that aren't Amazon and supporting them helps companies dedicated to media to stay in business also force Amazon to be competitive.

Target selling physical media in-store and online in doubt.

target has been shrinking their media for a long time now. Some stores just have end caps at best. Others have a bit more, but there have been articles about Target for some time now... all that to say, of course Target will drop it at some point, but why, just why would anyone go with that...

    "FilmRise TV" DVD sets?

I'm familiar with FilmRise, but didn't know they also made DVDs until I got served a post on Facebook the other day. ...so while looking at their page, I saw them noting these two very recent releases (both on DVD before): I hadn't heard about these releases or anything about them doing DVD...

Best Buy To Exit Physical Media Business In 2024

I have a spent a lot of money at Best Buy since the 90s and a decent amount through this month. It bums me out, as it did with the loss of CDs at Best Buy and elsewhere. But it's reality. The only part that surprised me when this news broke earlier was that they are exiting online sales too...

Northern Exposure UK Blu-ray vs German Blu-ray

I bought the Shout set earlier this year, though for under $30. I need to watch more to decide if I want to upgrade. Of course, having original music on the blu release would help make that decision easier.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - American Graffiti -- in 4k UHD

Yes and no. I think it's just (outside of specific Lucas influence) studios wanting to make old similar to new. If that means less grain (aka general Hulu viewer going "eww" as it conflicts with their digital world) then "so be it")

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - American Graffiti -- in 4k UHD

You're right, the masses aren't buying 4K and never will. It's a small part of the physical market. Could the reason that the studios do this to 4K not because of disc releases, but because they are simply "restoring" the film for 4K, whatever the channel may be - whether for streaming...

Press Release Criterion Press Release: The Servant (1963) (Blu-ray)

I was just reading about the film, which brought me to this thread that I guess that I missed earlier in the year and honestly, some of the 4K comments are just insufferable. Criterion (and Kino etc) have reasons and justifications for their decisions. It wasn't that long ago people cried for...

I get why some aren't into this one, but as a Hitch fan and of cold war movies, I like it (and Torn Curtain).

Best Buy To Exit Physical Media Business In 2024

It's the online thing that is surprising. I know that they have made various shifts to their model since the pandemic, but still. Then again, when they stopped selling CDs, they stopped online as well. It's important to support various physical stores where possible, as well as online stores...

I’ll give you a topic: Is Digital before Physical a Good Thing? Discuss!

I see it as this - that the studios see physical sales more of a fanbase segment. This isn't totally true, but let's face it, we who buy discs are loyal to it and with each passing year, disc sales shrink, and we are a larger % of that smaller group. They may get some digital sales from folks...

Would Killing DVD Improve Blu-ray and 4K UHD’s Fortunes?

My local Best Buys pretty much carry Blu and 4K... but Walmart which had a fairly decent blu selection and and small 4K collection has reverted back to mostly DVD... and I'm not counting the tv collection sets that are only on DVD anyway. Target is slightly better, but not much... however some...

Would Killing DVD Improve Blu-ray and 4K UHD’s Fortunes?

I think the only way this would have worked would have been to phase out DVDs more than a decade ago. Studios know that there are a lot of people who are very casual or infrequent buyers at this point who may have a DVD player and are just not going to buy another player. The massive shift to...

Digital Review Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Digital UHD Review

I don't feel that it was ignored. It just couldn't profit based on its crazy budget. I enjoyed it and look forward to getting the blu ray.

Columbo Coming to Blu-ray on November 21, 2023. See Post #55!

Where is this strike talk coming from? I get the disappointment everyone, but if this had been announced in its current form, most people would excited to own the series on blu ray and for me, that's what matter. Yeah, it's a bummer to not have what appeared to be an extensive list, but I...

    Charley Varrick - Kino Lorber

I really like this movie and own the Kino blu ray. I also bought their release of The Black Windmill, which I hadn't seen, because Don Siegel did it, but found that one disappointing.

Mannix is Coming! (All things Mannix w/spoilers)

UHD Review Superman II UHD Review

I watched the Donner cut once years ago and while interesting, that version still looked liked an unfinished product. To me, that should always have been an extra released on theatrical release sets. It really annoys me that I still can't just buy Superman 2 on blu ray (outside of a one of the...
