Apologies for previous post...cannot seem to delete it...anyways...
Just noticed Vol.3 is available for $72.49 from Please Rewind (Sony) w/$10 off code MOVIES10OFF75. In my opinion, a better selection of films compared to Vol.4....
Thanks for the review- will be picking this up eventually then since it sounds like a significant improvement over the already nice bluray.... such a great time to be collecting movies- we are really spoiled.
On a side note, I wonder if we will ever see a Soderbergh boxset- I thought there was...
I received my 4K copy of 'Il Conformista' (Eagle Pictures, 4Kult series) from Amazon Italy here to me in Spain 2 days ago.
It is the fixed (version 2) disc and it is also currently on sale for 15.90 euros.
As a bonus, it also came with the spot glossed and embossed slipcover and artcard...
Thank you. I would be very interested to hear your thoughts as your 'few words' are always a big factor in me deciding to buy a title or not...
...and also a reason why CC Vol.4 is still in my thoughts- even though I had originally ruled out a purchase.
I agree with what you say about standard bluray quality- recent ones I have watched on my 75" display that blew me away with their great video quality are 'The Master', 'The Hateful Eight' and 'Sound Of Freedom'.
I am a huge Steven Soderbergh fan and love his film 'Contagion' but I have a...
Out of stock most places at the moment but back in stock soon.... but t least it is confirmed dvd-store.it ship the corrected V.2 disc.
They also currently have a buy 1 get 50% off sale so you can get the disc for 9,99 euros with another title so you can still lock in the sale price now...
Regarding the Italian Eagle release, members on another site say early copies from Amz Italy were missing the lossless audio and that there were also some sync issues early on in the film.
Eagle re-issued the disc (V.2) with the sync issue fixed and lossless audio included.
(reports say other...
Buying blurays in Spain is a nightmare- loads of bootlegs floating about too. No issues with 4K discs in Spain yet tho.
Thanks for heads up on 'Patton'.
When talking about discs freezing/skipping/stopping etc during playback, it may be worth mentioning the exact model 4k disc player you are using as the player itself is often the problem, not the disc.
Sadly I think I read elsewhere that Network are going out of business so grab this now while you can.
In addition to so many other great titles, they also released the definitive restored bluray boxset of the classic WWII documentary 'The World At War' narrated by Laurence Olivier.
And it is...
Thank you- I will pick up the bluray then at some stage as I will never support digital...even if it means taking a small hit in picture quality.
The Network bluray release of the classic WWII documentary The World At War narrated by Lawrence Olivier is fantastic...and the only release anywhere in the original aspect ratio.
(Not sure if region B UK locked or region free- can check if anyone interested)
Sounds like it could be a player issue? I have owned numerous Region 'A' and Region 'B' bluray disc players over the years and would highly recommend next time, in your case, to buy a dedicated Region 'B' disc player and simply use a 'step up' transformer to deal with the different voltage...
Atmos audio has been been given a boost according to some...
Some quotes...
"This is the first Sony Atmos track I've seen where they used the full 16-channel object cluster stream container for TrueHD"
"Not much of a bump in video bitrate like Air Force One (55841 kbps on the old release) but...
My dream is that a massive 4K boxset of all Clint Eastwood films may appear someday...probably my favourite actor of all time. What a talent and a legend!!
'Alien' looks fantastic on 4K congrats (just hope you won't be showing the grandkids that one tho )
Best way to support the format is to actually buy some discs so well done on your collection so far :thumbsup:
Disc sales are actually increasing worldwide.
In the UK alone for example, in 2021, home entertainment revenue was up 13% to US$5 Billion...with more than 21 million discs sold....and the home entertainment market there is set to top $6 Billion in revenue by 2025.
You'll be glad to hear out...
Maybe on release day...there are always dozens of sales at HMV, Zavvi and Amazon UK all the time.
If you wait a short while those new releases drop in price very quickly.
