No lesson learned here. I can definitely tell a difference when I turn the volume all the way up. Effortless power and clarity at high volume. It just takes alot to impress me. And for those looking for a night/day difference it won't happen. My expectations were met.
Alright, have had my new XPA-5 hooked up to my home theatre for a couple days now. I have to say I love the amp. I can easily tell the speakers are getting the power they need and it seems without effort. Now my complaint. I'm getting a hum from the speakers that is audible from 9 feet away at...
That's cool. Just making sure. I'd already gotten these and wanted to be sure they were a sufficient choice. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021814&p_id=2864&seq=1&format=2 All hooked up and not that impressed with the amp addition.
Would this cable be sufficient? or is there a better choice? http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021814&p_id=2864&seq=1&format=2
Alright, got past the cables. now onto the trigger.
What is the best device to trigger the auto on for my Emotiva xpa-5 with the AVR??
If anyone has a link to what is easy to use that would be cool.
I just picked up a Emotiva XPA-5
I'm using 12 gauge speaker wire from the amp to the speakers.
What are the best cables to use from the AVR to the amp??
Isn't that like comparing oranges to apples?
The emotiva xpr-5 is $1700 with 400x5
seems like it wins over the outlaw 7500
I'm thinking the XPA-5 will get it done nicely. Don't really see the need for more than 200x5
In truth, there's no way I'd put that my AV rack.
I already do understand that there would be a negligible difference in sound. Perhaps only when turned up or when hearing the louder
more climatic parts of movies. And that's cool with me, should keep any AV receiver i'm running much cooler.
I'm...
Ok. I like that suggestion. But I'm sure you know the next one.
What amplifier? I've got no problem dropping 6k on one. Because I know it will be good for 20+ years (hopefully)
I've read about emotiva and mcintosh. Two very different price points.
I appreciate build quality and classical looks...
Longtime lurker here on the forum. lots of good info.
finally decided to join.
I'd place my level of interest in home theatre as serious but casual.
I don't need the 20k speakers but I'm not going with the home theatre in a box either.
Great to meet you all!
currently running a Panasonic PVT-65...
Front left and right are connected by speaker wire only. Separate subwoofer is connected via LFE on the av receiver
Front left and right are set to Large, every other speaker Small.
With these settings the front should be full range with everything below 80hz going to the main subwoofer
There is...
Forgive my newness. But what are multiple crossover points and why would that benefit me?
My crossover is set to 80 right now. I think this is a good setting since the STS subs are pretty good.
