Has anyone encountered any issues with their Oppenheimer UHD freezing up around the 1:07:00 -1:09:00 mark? This is the scene where .
Does anyone know if this happens to be at one of the layer changes?
I am playing this on a Sony UBP-X800M2. Disc looks perfectly fine with no scratches or...
@lamywaby,
No experience with either of those, but FYI, the TX-NR7100 is down to $695 new at Amazon. I think that takes it into a very attractive bang-for-buck price range.
The press release I saw on another site had these two extras asterisked as "digital only":
Deleted Shots Montage—Director Christopher McQuarrie and editor Eddie Hamilton share some of the breathtaking, never-before-seen footage that didn't make the final film.
Editorial Featurette: The...
I have a vague memory of seeing this in the theater when I was very young, and I'm pretty sure I have not seen it since. Would not mind finally revisiting this on 4k UHD.

Looks good, Robert_Zohn ! Thinking you meant to say 1st allocation of X90J, though :)
I would be interested in your initial impressions as to how it compares to the 2020 X900H if/when you get a demo unit set up... Major improvements, or just incremental?
Thanks for that info, Robert.
Unfortunately, the A90J is is a bit out of my budget, as much as I would love to go for it.
The X90J is probably more in line with what I want to spend for a 65-inch... any initial impressions as to how it will compare to the 2020 X900H? Major improvements, or...
@Robert_Zohn (or anyone else who might know),
I'm very interested in Sony's 2021 lineup, but I'm a little concerned about Sony's descriptions about what the XR processor does with all this AI-based image enhancement and how that might affect creator's intent with respect to reproducing what's...
Wow, those are some tempting prices on the 65" A8H and the 75" X900!
It seems lots of sites say to go bigger if you can at expense of picture quality (within reason), but is going down to 65" for OLED worth it if choosing between these two?
But I do like the future-proofed HDMI and ATSC tuner...
Your pics with HDR (bottom) look better to me than those without (top) as far as grayscale... the top pics have a lot of detail getting lost in the dark areas.
So what is your specific complaint about the HDR pics? Do you actually prefer the look without HDR, or are they both bad in your...
Mr. Harris,
Your thoughts on this controversy have been interesting and appreciated, and your above post in particular brings the following question to mind:
Is the true goal (in your opinion) of any film restoration that starts with the original negative to make the final master look like a...
Well I hope they at least do the next-best (or better?) thing and release a box set this year of all the TOS-crew films remastered in 4k UHD. That would be a fitting celebration of the 40th anniversary of TOS crew's debut on the big screen!
Not that we should get our hopes up based on the history of this never-happening release, but I stole this link from a post at the blu-ray forums:

I don't disagree, Robert, but a known perfectionist like Kubrick would probably object to the error were he still alive.
Something for WB and Leon Vitali/Kubrick estate to hash out, I guess.
Interesting. So should we expect a fixed disc down the line and/or replacement program?
Also, congratulations to those of you who snagged a copy of 2001:Extended Edition ;)
If the only good thing we end up getting out of this sequel is the excellent 4k UHD of the original Predator as a marketing tie-in, then The Predator will have served its purpose.
That is great news, but where did you see that is has already been renewed?
I hope so, as this show is really excellent.
Edit:
Nevermind, Google search revealed lots of sites reporting the renewal. Awesome news!
Very true... After my initial positive impressions of Skyfall faded, I came to the same conclusion!
And the more I think about how that one ends, the more I feel like the writers really cheated Bond out of a victory just for a cheap emotional moment. Seems that the better way to end Skyfall...
Trying to decide on format as well for this weekend... I saw Last Jedi in Dolby Cinema and was quite impressed with the image and sound. So I am leaning towards seeing MI6 in that as well, but I always prefer to see films in the intended presentation.
Does anyone know if the 1.90:1 sequences...
While Robert Harris' comments do not inspire confidence, I think there is too much uncertainty about the ComicCon presentation for any of us to conclude that the sky is falling. All we have is that one guy's impression, and there are SO many variables that could have affected the image quality...
