This was a solid transfer compared to some of the others. One of my favorite Moore bond movies, and while Barbara Bach is a looker, she really should have taken some acting classes before filming this one.
Awesome bad guys in this one..
Sloppy is being kind.. Did the audio mixer actually listen to this before they approved it?
Very poorly done the worst of the lot for me so far for the added channels.
Count me as another one who likes this movie more with age. When I was younger I don't think I ever gave the movie a fair shake as it was the first movie without Connery, and also the only movie by Lazenby. I also agree that Lazenby has moments when he is quite good, and moments when he is not...
Well I think you can discern if one looks like a wax figure and one does not. Sure the Blu-Ray ultimately would look the best, but the DNR on Goldeneye is about as bad as it gets. Think Gladiator/Patton type bad. Thankfully I don't think the other Bond movies are nearly as DNR'd although it...
I watched You Only Live Twice (one of my favs) and there is a pink hue going on with the whites.. Otherwise it was just okay for me. I then sampled several of the other new 9 releases and for me, Goldeneye was far and away the worst of the lot. It is defintiely "Patton-like" with the DNR...
What a great upcoming slate for Blu-Ray catalog... Indy trilogy, Bond movies, Titanic, ET, etc... My 7 year old son asks me, literally, everday when these movies are being released on Blu-Ray. He had been playing the Lego Indy game on the Wii and desperately wants to watch the movies with...
Well I think this is part of the problem (people not really thinking grain is a good thing and preferring a DNR look). Looking at packaged media sales in recent years it is obvious that it is becoming more and more a collectors realm, especially for catalog titles and especially on Blu-Ray. I...
I would like to meet Paramount... At high noon...
This is just too bad. I was looking forward to adding this to my collection, but will either just rent it, or wait for the $5 used or bargin bin copy.
One of my fathers all-time favorite movies and I grew up as a lad watching it with him...
I was originally set on buying a 2D projector, but decided to spend a little more and get 3D, and the family is really enjoying it. It really comes down to your preference. While the majority of viewing will be in 2D, there are a number of movies now being released in 3D at home, and some of...
For those of you who have never seen the film, you are in for a treat. It is really a well done movie. This will definitely be added to my collection, and I really like the Digibooks :)
Thanks for the review.
I own an Acer BD9500 and have been very impressed with it.
Bright DLP projector with very good black levels and 3D support for under $1500. It seems to do everything pretty well for the money. Only negatives would be if you use an HTPC or do lots of gaming, there are reports of some tearing...
I tied UV a couple of times and was completely unimpressed with the process. This is supposed to be easy and seamless, and it currently is not. I don't really see UV succeeding without getting Apple fully on-board.
Sigh...
I have been thoroughly enjoying the book titled "The Second World War" by Antony Beevor (his previous books on Stalingrad, and Berlin in WWII are excellent as well) and I ready to start watching my favorite WWII movies again in a marathon (Das Boot, Bridge On The River Kwai, Sand...
This was a pleasant surprise for me when I first viewed this movie on DVD years ago. I had passed on it when it was released in the theater and on DVD originally, but my wife convinced me to watch the movie (she is a fan) and I really enjoyed it. I fully intent on upgrading to the Blu-Ray...
Thank you.
I work in Minneapolis and live just outside the city and we have three 70mm capable theaters in the area, but I don't see LOA playing on any of them currently or in the near future.
Looks like I just missed a showing back in March at the Heights....
Will definitely try to catch...
I have this on my short list of wish list catalog titles. Wife and I both love this movie and I cannot wait to add this one to my collection, great news that it was a proper transfer on BD.
Icing on the cake :)
Well, I came to this forum to see what was going on with LOA (I have been reading RAH threads anonymously for years) and then see all the drama in this thread:
- LOA
- Penton Man
- Format War
- 4K
etc, etc
I honestly stopped reading the Penton Man thread at BD.com years ago. Mainly because...
