TV Problem - Samsung LNA650. Random visual glitches.

I decided to plug the cord directly into the wall outlet before use today, and I found that no issues came up. Could it really be that the surge protector is at fault? Since moving, it's essentially the only thing that's changed about the TV. I've added a surge protector. I thought it was that...

TV Problem - Samsung LNA650. Random visual glitches.

See this link for clarification: http://www.samsung.com/us/capacitorsettlement/ I'm not covered under warranty. So, they'll fix any of the TVs with those symptoms, which indicate a faulty capacitor, but they won't fix the TV if the problem is due to another part. That's why I've been trying to...

TV Problem - Samsung LNA650. Random visual glitches.

I called Samsung. There were some doubts from some of the reps I spoke with, I think, about whether or not what I am describing above really indicates a capacitor issue. Because of this I'm worried that when the service technician comes, he'll discover the problems I've been experiencing have...

TV Problem - Samsung LNA650. Random visual glitches.

Hello, I purchased this TV (LN40A650) in 2008, and it's been working fine until recently. I haven't been able to find anyone reporting a similar problem, but here is the description. - I'll notice a weird glitch, like a small square of static suddenly appearing in the middle of the screen...

Do I need to purchase a Back-UPS for my LCD television?

I already have a Back-UPS ES 650 for my iMac. Would that cover my LCD as well? Any way to find this out? Or should I just buy a separate surge protector for TV?

Do I need to purchase a Back-UPS for my LCD television?

I have this: Samsung - LN40A4650 I already have a Back-UPS for my iMac, but I'm not sure if I should plug my TV into it, as well (that is, if it will accommodate the TV in addition to the iMac and still protect both devices). Thoughts?

Upgrading choice -- HTIB, Receiver + separate speakers & sub, or an OPPO player?

Thanks for the welcome and for the replies. I also have these (Senheisser HD598s) -- since I want to buy a vinyl player, as well, I wonder if I should just buy an amp for these so that they can simulate 7.1. and allow me to listen to vinyls at fairly premium quality of sound. What do you think...

Upgrading choice -- HTIB, Receiver + separate speakers & sub, or an OPPO player?

I also have Senheisser HD598s (see below) hooked up to my iMac. Should I spend the money on an amp or receiver for these? Can they simulate or offer 7.1?

Upgrading choice -- HTIB, Receiver + separate speakers & sub, or an OPPO player?

Hello, I made another thread where I was currently trying to decide whether or not an OPPO player is worth it. One of the primary reasons I would like one is to watch Region 2 Blurays and the like. Basically, I'm looking to upgrade my setup, and I thought I might start with a new Bluray player...

Talk me out of buying an Oppo BDP-93

Right, thanks. While you are advising against HTIB, if I were to go with Denon, which would be best? Setting aside the question of price for the moment...

Talk me out of buying an Oppo BDP-93

Thanks very much for the recommendations, guys. The reason an HTIB is appealing is because, as I mentioned, my place of residence is bound to fluctuate very much in the next few years. It will probably be a long time before I'm living somewhere for a very consistent, long period of time (i.e...

Talk me out of buying an Oppo BDP-93

Thanks, Chas. I thought HTIBs were usually vastly inferior to building the surround set up piece by piece, starting with a top tier receiver and carefully selecting speakers and subs? I mean, the HTIB sounds great just due to the ease and it makes logical sense given that I may be moving again...

Talk me out of buying an Oppo BDP-93

Thanks for the reply. So, in that case, isn't it at least a good investment at this point? If, for instance, I'm hoping to upgrade my speakers within the next few years... The Oppo won't provide surround sound? The 5500s take coax and optical -- neither of those are supported by the Oppo players?

Talk me out of buying an Oppo BDP-93

Rather than create another thread, I'll just put my questions here: Hello, I'm currently trying to decide whether or not an OPPO player is worth it. One of the primary reasons I would like one is to watch Region 2 Blurays and the like. However, I'm also interested in the technical advantages...
