Watched the movie yesterday....AWSOME to say the least. It is a beautiful transfer and a terrific film. I haven't looked at the other discs in the set. With that said, I just read Bill Hunt's column on "The Digital Bits" site and he indicated that ".we’re getting reports that people are...
Why no Blu-Ray for "Moby Dick" and "Lilies of The Field" ? Haven't read the entire 1754 comments on this thread so if this has been answered I'll spend the next month searching this thread!! ;)
Right up front: I buy a movie FOR THE MOVIE. The technical aspects of the transfer come second. I am not much for the tech aspects anyway. Aspect ratio, etc. are not what I look for (although "pan and scan" was a disaster!!) I want to see the movie. Granted some movies that have been...
Just to let you know both the Amfitheatrof score & the Caliendo score are available on CD at Screen Archives:

I saw this movie when it came out and I thought that Streisand was totally mis-cast. First she was too young for the part, but also she was a bit - how shall I say it? - schmaltzy..if there is such a word - she overplayed the part. I'd have preferred Carol Channing in the role. Even so...
I first saw "Patton" when I was in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam back in 1970. They showed it in a tent at the artillery firebase. Unfortunately, they played the second reel first and then the first reel.. About half was through the first reel we had a mortar attack and they had to end the...
RAH: The soundtrack CD notes were written by Maurice Jarre and he states "Despite the fact that, due to contractual requirements, Sam Spiegel, the film's producer, gave the credit "Music conducted by" to Sir Adrian Boult (who did not conduct one single bar of the music), I was rewarded a...
I have the Original Soundtrack Recording on a Varese Sarabande CD. The credit on the film shows "Music conducted by Sir Adrien Boult." Maurice Jarre states on the CD notes that this was due to a contractual requirement in which Sam Spiegel, the producer, gave the credit to Sir Adrien Boult...
Additional info from Digital Bits: "Also today, after getting a number of reader e-mails, I've confirmed that there IS a minor audio issue with Paramount's Titanic Blu-ray. About 29 seconds into the film, just as the vocal music track begins, there's a sort of "popping" sound in the audio mix...
Digital Bits has stated that "In other news today, we're starting to get a few e-mails here and there about a possible audio problem on Paramount's Titanic Blu-ray (a popping sound during the music near the beginning of the film.") This was posted on 9/11. Has anyone noticed this? I have the...

I just bought "Come Blow Your Horn" on Olive Films blu-ray. I must say for higher price I expected better. The quality was poor and as far as bare bones, this couldn't get any more bare bones. NOTHING..no extras at all and a big minus, no close captions. For the higher price you'd think...
Just another "sticky" thing about most Blu-rays today. The "cheap" blu box with the holes on both sides covered by the film title cover is so annoying...easy to put your finger right through the case and title cover. The most god-awful thing though is the little square piece of paper (usually...
I have to say that this forum has been interesting. I'm not at all an expert in "movie making" or digital transfers, bits, bites, etc. I watch movies for the pleasure and entertainment they bring. I first saw WSS when I was in high school back in 1962. It was mesmerizing and I loved it. I'm 67...
RAH: Just wached the Blu-Ray last night...loved it. I had never seen this Hitchcock movie before. Interesting that they had an "Overture" and "Exit Music" for this movie. I did catch the "color shot" near the end! (no pun intended!!). Your review is right on. I also bought the other 2 releases...
I don't think the Digi-book copy is available at Target anymore. I remember went "The Sound of Music" came out on Blu-ray, Target had a digi-book exclusive edition. It no longer sells that edition. I think it is a promo and when the edition runs out, your out of luck!!
Well I got my return slip in my e-mail yesterday. Before I sent the "package" back (I have the Target edition with digi-book) I called up Fox and waited till a human finally answered. I told her I have the Target Exclusive edition and that I wondered if It would be replaced with the same...
...and then there's this from Amazon:
Trade In This Movies & TV Item for $9.65
Trade in West Side Story (50th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray] for a $9.65 Amazon.com Gift Card that can be redeemed for millions of items store wide. See more Movies & TV eligible for trade-in.
They should replace the whole set, since the Blu-Ray and DVD both have the "flawed" Overture in them! Also, I hope I get back the digi-book copy which was a Target Exclusive!
