I have a 2010ish Sony Bravia 55" smart HDTV hooked up to a Yamaha RXV681 AVR in a 3.0 HT system.
I've been using the optical out from the TV to the optical input of the AVR. I use the TV for over-the-air local HDTV programs plus free Tubi, Pluto, Xumo, and YouTube apps. As well as a few free...
My Dynaudio L/R only are 86 db and require a bit of power so adding a third may be pushing it.
I have no interest in 7 speakers in our townhome's living/dining area and I can't image my AVR driving 7 86db speakers to satisfying levels.
To add, I have no interest in not using the Dynaudio Emit...
It's recommended to always use the 8 ohm setting because the 6 ohm restricts the amp so it won't over drive so it actually outputs less power as a self preservation. I've even used my 4ohm speakers w/ no ill effects. I'm only using 2 speakers so a suppose you just need to be adult about volume...
Old Dog, I have two complete systems in different room using different speakers. I switch between the Mystere tube amp and Rega amp in my music system.
My question is not about speakers but the capability of the rxv681 to adequately drive more than two 86db Dynaudio speakers. A center for the...
I already have Dynaudios and love its organic human sound. If you havent' lived with the Emit series you wouldn't know what I'm talking about. And it also sounds fantastic w/ my tube amp.
I almost purchased a Klipsch R52C center but the folks at Klipsch forum says non of the modern centers is a...
BasX A3 review
Sounds like the a3 would be a good match w/ warm full bodied speakers because of the level of clarity and separation, while a Marantz would sound better w/ very detailed and clear speakers, even thin or bright speakers.
I purchased a preowned Yamaha RX-V681 one month ago. It's only 90wpc into 2 channels.
I've tried it with my 99db Klipsch Forte and 86 db Dynaudio Emit10. Both speakers sound wonderful but different. I'm torn between them. I generally use the AVR up to -13 w/ the Klipsch and -8 w/ the Dynaudio...
Mine frequencies and Q is adjustable but I wouldn't know how to make correct adjustments w/ out using the YAPO mic and the results I get are more unclear and muffled so I find bypassing the eq and use the 'through' setting. I was wondering if others other have experienced the auto eq setting...
Thanks, I don't have sub so as not to disturb my townhome neighbors, so L&R are set to large. I have a SPL meter so I'll match speaker volume with it. Thanks.
I have a Yamaha RXV681 w/ YAPO room correction. This is my second Yamaha AVR and I've noticed the sound using room correction "flat" vs. not using room correction "through" sounds more muffled. Especially noticeable with dialogue on some programs is not as intelligible which can me problematic...
I just purchase basic Audioquest X2 14 ga. speaker cable to make a number of cables for 2 systems.
The 2 middle-of-the-road Audioquest BFA bananas are the CF-BFA (recommended on X2 box) and the SureGrip 300 banana plugs. The SureGrip 3oo is available everywhere while the CF-BFA is hard to find...
It may be easier than you think. Contact these guys. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I've built 3 speaker kits from them.

Dynaudio is know for their speakers in the audiophile arena. I have Dynaudio Emit 10 monitor that are fantastic for $800.
I'm thinking of adding their $800 Emit 25c center speaker for a 3.0 TV system using a Yamaha rxv681 avr in our townhome. They're a little power hungry at 86db @6 ohms but...
So many options but my general preference is a passive sound bar with an AVR vs. one with everything built in. You'll have lot more options, flexibility, and upgrade ability. For me at this time I'm in favor of the expensive Klipsch Heritage Theater Bar w/ the Marantz NR1510 for a wonderful 3.0...
Foxman, do you still own your Fortes? I'm using Forte I in a 2.0 movies/music system and find they have the most amazing room filling sound...clear, lively, 3D soundstage w/ tight rhythmic bass. No need for a center speaker because of the way they throw a soundstage, but I image a Heresy center...
Yes the Schiit modi3 is a great dac for the money. I use one in 2 channel system. It is not multichannel but excellent for optical from tv to dac, and coaxial from Blu-ray player to dac to an analogue 2 channel input via the rca jacks.
Gene,
Sorry about the late response, but I was waiting for other replies. You expressed what I was thinking about Anthem vs. Yamaha. What you said about the Denon 4311 being better has me thinking. How so is it better?
I am looking for a high quality AVR. I don't need many hook-ups, only DVD/BluRay and TV programming HDMI input and one HDMI output to HDTV. The 2 top choices for me are the Anthem MRX700 and the Yamaha RXA3010. Though the Yamaha is rated as more powerfull, both have adequate power for me, and I...
