Sorry,,,didn't realize I hadn't checked it. For Mitsubishi lamps, always get them directly from Mitsubishi. They sell directly to the public at dealer cost. They are usually an Osram brand lamp. But without an Osram OEM cross. So don't try the open market for any Mitsubishi. Sony's and Samsung...
A plasma is "marketed" as 600hz, an LED/LCD is "marketed" as 120hz or 240hz. All it means is the way the signal going to the panel is read by an o-scope. Plasma manufacturers started using the marketing term of 600hz to make them compete in a market of Hz numbers. Stay with a name brand LG...
This is a very old post, so many of the specifics will be out of date. I would still probably lean towards the Panasonic personally, no real reason other than I still have my 2005 plasma as my back up to my newer sets. On a service note, Samsung "in that past" has pushed for the "cheaper"...
No, don't waste your money. I buy all my lamps from encompassparts.com they will sell directly to the public. They also sell a "correct" OEM replacement. Good luck, Jim
I would love to see a picture of that! I get calls out and find panels broken by relatively light hits... And of course it is my fault warranty won't cover them.
That very well could be the case. I asked one of the RBM's for one of the manufacturers when they first started selling them. I have had more than one case of a manufacturer rep. having no idea how they actually worked,,,,and as a tech it was really never that important to investigate. I always...
Yes, that is either a bad connection from the logic/ panel control to the X-buffer. Or X-buffer to the panel. Or bad Logic pcb, x-buffer, or panel. The way I isolate that is re-seat all the above connectors and take it from there.
My understanding was it was a high frequency AC driving the lamps. I don't remember where I heard that, but assuming that is correct, no it wouldn't matter.
Sometimes they will start to develop a bad connection on the Y buffers (generic plasma issue). Try tapping the right side of the set when you hear the noise, if it goes away, that is probably the issue. If it is under warranty, don't ignore it. Good luck, Jim
Not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I've been a tech for a long time. Most techs today are not electronics techs, they know how to replace boards, not troubleshoot TV's.
I am a Mitsu warranty tech,,,, and I've been to exactly 0 training classes with them, to be a warranty repair center for...
When it shuts off the red light on front will start blinking. Count the number of blinks, that will tell me the error.
BTW, have you had the chassis rebuilt on that set?
My shop is full of TV's 2 years old or less. Until Panasonic gets their parts supply running in a reasonable time frame , I wouldn't touch them. Great sets, beautiful picture, horrible replacement parts supply. I'll see if I can get any insight from one of the Panasonic service centers for these...
No, not technically. Screen burn is only an issue if you watch 4x3 or run a constant static image. Most new plasmas have a white wash feature that will even out the panel if this does happen. Both of my plasmas are prior to that technology, and I don't have issues, but I'm careful about my cable...
I would lean towards the plasma. I still don't think the picture quality of LCD/LED is that much better than plasma to warrant the price difference of the upper end LCD's. However, also look at the LG plasmas. Panasonic has had ongoing problems providing parts for many of their plasma sets. With...
