Thanks Joel. The wire is run through pvc. The ceiling is the same color as the walls. The soundproofing definitly has a deadening effect in that the sound from the speakers seems to have a softer 'feel' to it. It also does a great job of keeping the sound in the room.I think as long as you...
Finished! Well almost. Still waiting for drapes. And during calibration found one speaker not working. Had to jump through all the hoops with Crutchfield to prove it wasn't something I did wrong. Still, sounds and looks great. Already watched the Blackhawks on it last night with the family.
At this stage I have insulation up, electrical donr, low voltage done and am putting up sounproofing. This was by Audiomute and is made from recycled tires.

Hopefully I don't get kicked off the board for being dumb but here's the question; Do you connect the LFE cable and the speaker wires to the sub or is the LFE cable enough?
Thanks for the feedback. It's actually calming as I was freaking out when I realized that the headrests would reach nearly to the back wall. I was going for a 7.1 but now realize that's not practical. Thanks again.
In my research i've learned that my HTR may be too small to have rear surround speakers. When the back row leans back in thier seats they will be nearly touching the back wall. So I thought I'll install bipoles closer to the center of the room. I've deceided to go with PSB's for my front and...
Thought I would share some photos of my progress. You guys have been very helpful with answering my questions so maybe there are things you will see in the photos that may save my butt down the line
Jason, you may have answered the question as to why I can't find this combo. Maybe manufacturers won't combine them for fear of complaints about interference. I was just looking for a cleaner look and not having the possibility of losing the cables into the wall. I think your idea of using...
I'm looking for a combination electrical outlet with a hdmi connection. Anyone know if this exits and where I might find it? I've tried Crutchfield and Smarthome with no success.
I know that it's important to have your speakers from the same manufacture but is it equally important that the sub woofer also be from the same manufacturer as the speakers?
I did an advanced search for any recent discussion on these speakers but the most recent was from the early 2000's. Any thought pros or cons on these speakers? The Image or Alpha series.
Thanks all for your help. These are great ideas. Al, the reason for pvc is just so the cables are in a confined space in case I have to replace or add. I did not know about wall rated cables for hdmi. Thank you for that info. Yes, I will go through my receiver for the surround sound. Jason...
O.K. I've been getting great help and useful advice since I began bombarding you guys with questions. Now, here is another one that I am kind of freaking out over. I am doing a 55-60 inch flat screen on a wall mount. I'm not a rack kind of guy but more of a nice piece of furniture guy for the...
robert, Thanks for the advice. I 'm learning much with every question I ask. Concerning the clean power issue I just assumed that all power is dirty to some degree wherever you are. I just thought that a power conditioner couldn't hurt.
So I'm coming to the finish line on my electrical rough-in and I just thought of something. I am providing an outlet behind a wall mounted tv and an outlet directly below at normal level near the floor. That outlet would be for the other components. I want to provide a clean power component but...
Thanks Gene and Casey. I agree with the advice from both of you. I do intend to have a center speaker and have been looking at the selection of speakers on the Crutchfield site. I just finished with the electrical rough-in a few minutes ago so I still have a long way to go.
Thanks Gene. That's what I thought. Have you seen todays Best Buy flyer? They are selling Klipsch audio and they had a picture of the speakers. I thought they might be a good buy.
My research on surround sound speakers tells me that the front left and right speakers should be of a better quality such as bookshelf or floor standing. I had initially thought of using six Polk speakers wall mounted in front and on the side and in the rear. By I've read that the sounds coming...
