Rear surround versus high front speakers

CB750, you are exactly right! It's been raining here and my job has kept me from worrying about it so things are good. I finished the wiring and now waiting on the sheet-rock to be finished. I wired the room for 2 subs (1 wired at 1/3 wall width and the other in the corner), front wide, front...

Rear surround versus high front speakers

Thanks for the comments. I was up all night and now resting in the car while my wife drives to the beach. This is what I decided to do..... I wired the house for in ceiling and installed side and rear surround. The speakers that I purchased for the rears I felt would be to small for front wide...

Rear surround versus high front speakers

Not many opinions here I guess. I've decided to wire it for both, install front wide and high instead of rear surround and if I don't like the set-up then I can purchase some speakers for the rear surround. I could actually do both (rear surround and front high and wide) and set it up for 9.1...

In ceiling rear surround speakers versus front high/wide speakers

I'm finally wiring my DYI system tonight and still haven't made up my mind on my rear surround speakers. My receiver is an Onkyo TX SR608 and I'm installing a 7.1 Polk Audio M50/CS20 and inwall (RC85i) speaker system. I have a dilemma and would like everyone's opinion. I'm reluctantly placing my...

Subwoofer outputs for Onkyo TX SR608

I was looking at the back of my receiver and I see 2 purple subwoofer outputs. Prior to looking I was thinking that I needed a splitter for installing 2 subs but I was wrong, is that right? My question is, do I need a Y-splitter and two RCA cables or just 2 RCA cables? Thanks in advance, Tommy

New construction in-wall spearker selection and budget for home entertainment system.

That's a good point....The floor standing are 99.00 a piece on Amazon. I didn't look for the bookshelf. TV will be mounted on the wall not on a cabinet so I was going with the floor standing to prevent using brackets. I thought that it would be a cleaner install and produce a better sound...

New construction in-wall spearker selection and budget for home entertainment system.

OK.... Here is what I have decided to do. I have decided to go with Polk Audio Monitor 50 floorstanding speakers for R/L fronts, PA CS10 for the center and PA RC65i (in-wall speakers) for the side (in vaulted ceiling on an angle with tweeter aimed at listening position) and rear on back wall...

New construction in-wall spearker selection and budget for home entertainment system.

Thanks for the great info. I am taking every ones advice and doing some serious research! I looked up the Axiom in-wall speakers and was very impressed. It looks as though I would have to order straight from the manufacture so getting a "better deal" is definitely out of the question. The price...

New construction in-wall spearker selection and budget for home entertainment system.

Thanks a lot, that's some good advice so far. I removed the email address asap! We are going with the in-wall speakers because my wife would like to keep the space clean and contemporary looking without a lot of clutter. The TV will be mounted on the wall so I initially wanted an in-wall...

New construction in-wall spearker selection and budget for home entertainment system.

My wife and I just broke ground on pool house/party room/guest house combination. The main room dimensions are 22 x 23. I've recently purchased a 60" Sony BRAVIA KDL-EX700 LED TV and an Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver for the project. I'm wiring the room for 7.1 but only installing 5.1 until I get more...
