Neil, thanks for your input, appreciated.
A couple of questions may I ask of your expertise and knowledge if I may?;
1. Do you think my statement would be accurate about this show already being transferred to HD due to the clips pulled from all 3 seasons to be used on American Trucker?
2...
That's interesting, Knight Rider is my physical copy on Bluray but Dukes was given to me by a mate on USB but it is definitely 2K/1080P from what I can tell?
I've been enjoying Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider on bluray. Shows from my childhood now in HD! Great to relive these old memories in magnificent quality.
What are the chances of this show ever getting a HD/Bluray release?
3 seasons 1987-1990, one of those periods where episode final edits were done onto videotape/480P? So would I be correct in saying it would need new transfers cut from the masters? Not to mention the massive amount of 60's...
Hi all,
It's been a long time since I have posted on this topic but hoping maybe we can get some new or updated clarity on the status of this show.
There has been a lot of speculation over the years that this show was lost in the fire of 2008 (or at least broadcast/syndicated masters). The...

I have an acquaintance who was able to secure a meeting at Universal and was promptly told that this show does not have enough interest to warrant release...

It was shown here in Australia on cable in the early to mid nineties on a station called TV1. I didn't have cable at the time so only managed to get a couple of episodes taped but they were excellent quality. It wasn't shown with Lobo just BJ and the Bear. Whether they were syndicated versions I...
Cheers, thanks Scott. I'm beginning to think our only hope is that some station around the world somewhere has copies and eventually aires them and we get decent recorded copies. This also seems like a slim chance but maybe one day.
Makes you wonder why studios would keep the 35mm masters if there is no chance that they will ever be transferred for release. What's the point of them sitting in a vault destined to never be seen again? If they have no plans to do it, why not sell them off at a reasonable price to someone who...
Further to my earlier post, Fabfilms were also told by Universal that they don't have the original masters, just some heavily edited broadcast masters.
An update but not a positive one though. The overseas company trying to get this released has hit a dead end. I will reveal now that it is British company Fabulous Films and they have released shows like "Tour of Duty" for example with the original music.
They met with Universal last month and...
On the subject of BJ and the Bear, yes the Greg Evigan twitter comment about a DVD release at Best Buy is untrue. Greg's wife Pam confirmed to me that yes it was a fake account and not the real Greg Evigan. Yes the music on BJ is all cover versions of popular songs and I know of an overseas...
As I said earlier, I know of an overseas company trying their hardest to secure this show for release. Universal are not making it easy though. They are having trouble tracking down some of the masters. It's still in early stages so I'm not at liberty to name the company at present. I will try...
I know of a company(non-American) who is currently trying to secure this for DVD release. Universal are not making this easy though. Will keep posting when there are updates
Just an update.
My source has descibed this pursuit as an ongoing nightmare!! Universal has 16mm masters, they are inter-neg??? He says it is do-able but expensive. They are getting one sent to them for a test and a budget. Let's hope Universal dont put it out out of reach money wise.
Will...
I gave my word that I wouldn't say anything yet, so I may have said too much already. All I will say is when I asked them of the rumor of BJ rights/masters they said yes they are going for it. I will post any updates when I hear them.
Let's hope they can seal the deal!
Thanks for your info there Scott, TGAH was another one of my childhood faves!
I'm in Australia and what I saw of TGAH was obviously an overseas DVD release as it had those covers by Joey Scarbury intact. I wasn't aware the American release had the music replaced, unlucky for you guys.
I must...
