Well The Man I Love and Act Violence made it to the finish line ! Ill be getting those for sure. But now I need Mystery Street to retire the DVD. Maybe they can do a Streets Collection Blu-ray with Side Street and Mystery Street :D
Im actually going to watch Side Street now to make sure it's still working :) It looks GREAT and played all the way through ! This movie probably wouldn't take much time to restore as it does look excellent on DVD...
Macao is available via WAC a DVDr in case the movie isnt in the Blu-ray cards. I replaced a bunch for DVDr and they all play fine. Official DVDr movies from a studio like Warner I don't really mind because at least the image quality is still excellent and they dont freeze up. :)
I saw The Boob in TCM thought it was ok, probably will watch it one more time to see if I want the Blu-ray, some movies take a couple of viewings to see if I really would add it to my collection.
Im also going to watch Why Be Good? as I think I can stream it. I am going by Robert's...
Whenever Act of Violence is released I would want Mystery Street too so I can retire the DVD as they were paired together. Pretty much why I am not into double features these days. I still have the DVD of Side Street which was part of a Farley Granger double feature with They Live by Night. Hey...
Let's hope this is the week ! Possible titles could be The Man I Love ( rumored from the Podcast with George), The Narrow Margin ( highly requested) A Woman's Face ( I believe I read about it having a new HD master). Anyway I am keeping the expectations low and maybe some of us will be in for a...
I have the DVD set for these four films. I prefer Ralph Byrd as Dick Tracy who is in 2 of these films, and Morgan Conway is in the other 2. Still, this should be a fun set.
I wonder if this will be the week we get May announcements or maybe it will be next week. This could be a big day for those who like classics! If George reads this threads, I would like to suggest a Blu-ray of Executive Suite as the DVD has stopped playing for several members as reported in the...
I have an import DVD with the Republic Logo at the beginning , it's a French release from Bach Films. It's the best DVD I've seen for picture quality of the film. But it has forced French subs. I used to have the Alpha Video DVD but that was unwatchable so I imported the French release oui oui !
Id like to suggest The Great Flamarion since its with Republic and a classic horror set with Pharaohs Curse, The Flame Barrier and some other title that would fit in with these two. I really hope KL can come through here!
Potentially this could be the holy grail of releases for The Bat Whispers. It would be really cool if they included the silent version of The Bat also and make it a grand slam offering! :)
There was a podcast recently from George ( this is another copy & paste)
"George confirms that WAC will announce a whole new slate of classics (that will really excite people per George) at the end of May in addition to the delayed films"
Take that for what its worth :)
I did copy and paste the movies, these were all pushed back to May 14th.
THE NUN'S STORY (1959), FRIENDLY PERSUASION (1956), and YOU'RE A BIG BOY NOW (1966) due to production delays.
Devils' Doorway is a "replacement" for the three movies being pushed back.
I suspect May's titles are still...
It worked on my Sony UHD player, which is only a week old. Maybe your player needs a firmware update or maybe your player might be showing signs of age.
Dr. Lao is another big one for me. Im still excited about Fu Manchu as that was the number 1 movie on my WAC/WHV wish list. The Last Dinosaur, the remaining Val Lewton movies, It! , In This Our Life, Sadie McKee, The First Deadly Sin, All Through the Night , Mr. Skeffington, The Narrow Margin...
There's plenty of MGM titles in my WAC collection so maybe I will still get lucky with the announcements. I think Mask of Fu Manchu is MGM, Dancing Lady is MGM among others, so we'll see. I have no real expectations these days which prevents the monthly let down :)
Hoping we get April's slate this week ( if not, no biggie) !
I will also keep my fingers crossed for at least one Bette Davis and one Joan Crawford movie that replaces my DVDs, The Face of Fu Manchu, and The Narrow Margin. Reality - probably a couple of titles I have never heard of and a couple...
You are probably right. I remember the Kino rep, Misterlime told me Criterion is sitting on hundreds of titles while still licensing new ones. I really wish Criterion would shock us all and do a massive title announcement like 10-15 in one month to shed some of their titles. Misterlime, I know...
May looks great with some sets of interest ( Sci-Fi and William Powell), I cant wait !
I bought Leviathan and the UHD kept freezing on me, and I decided to buy a new UHD player as the freezing I think has to do with the age and use of my player. My current one is 5 years old, and I felt this...
