Receivers and wireless video streaming from MacBook

Hi there, So I am in the process of buying a new receiver and I am looking for a one that allows me to wirelessly stream audio and video from my Macbook. The Sony Store suggested the STR-DA5600ES. It is a great receiver but is a little more money than I'd really like to spend. Plus...

Picking the right projector for outdoors -- 16 feet

If you are showing movies and this has to be done right, 3600 lumens will not cut it. I'm guessing this is a job or business type thing? 5-6 K are barely going to be adequate, and that is only if you get something of great quality, like a Christie. I don't think you'll be able to buy that...

    Denon AVR-591 help: KEEPS BLOWING

Small rear speakers are not really designed to play music at high levels for extended periods of time. If I'm running loud music through my receiver I turn off the surround mode and just use my large front speakers and sub. Your surround speakers will last longer.

Picking the right projector for outdoors -- 16 feet

That projector is not nearly enough for outdoor use on such a large screen with ambient light. It will look washed out and dim. You'll need something in the 5000-6000 lumen range at least. I'd like to know more about what you are planning to show on it and how often. I'm not a home theatre...

    Dead Onkyo TX-SR502 receiver

I don't need too much. 4 HDMI in, 1 out and 6.1 is all I need. I thought that repair job was way too pricey. They are out of their minds. Thanks!

    Dead Onkyo TX-SR502 receiver

As the title says I have a dead TX-SR502. It's at a repair shop and they tell me the repair estimate is $150-$250. The amp goes into protect mode as soon as it is turned on and they tell me it is blown outputs at least. Is it worth spending the money on or should I just buy a new one. I'm...

Digital Audio Troubles with old Receiver. Not seeing anything but PCM

Damn, I suspected as much. I had hoped that since there was an optical out from the TV it would simply pass thru the encoded audio. I thought perhaps there was a menu item I neglected on the TV to allow the pass thru, although I was fairly thorough digging around in the TVs menu.   IMO that...

Digital Audio Troubles with old Receiver. Not seeing anything but PCM

I need a little bit of help.   I'm using an old JVC RX778V as a receiver while my Onkyo is out for repairs. No matter what source, Blue ray, DVD or XBox 360, I don't seem to be getting encoded audio to the receiver, only PCM. I am patched into the TV via HDMI and one optical line from the TV...
