I need some assistance. I currently have a good 7.2 surround system, but I feel my AVR is dated. Below I will list the build and that will hopefully give details to help the wiser ones than I to make some suggestions.
Onkyo TX-NR809
Parasound 2250 2ch amp
(2) RTi 12’s (L/R Towers)
(1) CSi 5...
Yes I would prefer a long term solution here. This issue is in my basement and its a dedicated Theater/Den so I want easy access if things have to be swapped out. My current Onkyo 809 still works flawlessly and I see no reason to upgrade at the moment, but it will be the next thing to move out...
When I installed my surround and rear speaker wires behind my sheet rock, I made the mistake of cutting my wires too short where they all come out to connect to the receiver. I only have about 10”-12” to play with, plus it also made hooking up the receiver a real hassle. Are there any solutions...
Wait are you talking about B-amping the AVR? I've tried that and noticed no difference. I just wondered if bi-amping from an amplifier would be better than bridging it for more wattage, Wondering which setup would sound best.
Normally not very loud at all. When I do crank it I'd say its at 1 or...
You make a good point about better power from a dedicated amp! Using one will get me by for a good while I'm sure til I can get a second (if I feel its needed). Does Bi-amping actually work in this type of setup with 2 amps? 125w to the top and bottom both? Is that advantageous??
Forgive me but...
I meant that the idea of having 400 watts sounded really good. I had heard that bridging amps may not always have good results. Just curious. I also was thinking i may need an amp so that the center and surrounds would get more power from the avr.
Hey guys, I've got a question. Let me tell you what I've got for context, then I'll ask the question. Got an Onkyo NR809 avr, Polk Audio RTi12 towers, and a CSi5 center. I've been working up to a nice Polk Audio HT and music system using the RTi stuff.
Since I listen to music 80% of the time...
I'm going to go with a computer UPS.
http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems/adaptive-sinewave-series/CP1500PFCLCD.html
This one claims to be a pure sinewave, and for $200 at walmart, I think thats hard to beat. It doesn't shield separate banks from eachother but who cares. As...
Gotcha. I just wonder what all the hype is for those 700-800 dollar systems that supposedly do the job so much better. Can you hook a sub to the UPS as well? I heard there is something different about them as well. Not sure what. Thanks for the info!!!
What about the line conditioning that is supposedly 'needed' by home audio equipment. What your thinkin schan is what I had in mind also, but I was just wondering if all the other stuff is really required.
Fellas,
Since I started building up a small system, I've become aware of the need for more power protection for my stuff. I've listened to videos and read product reviews and sales pitches. That has gotten me little progress. I'm thinking I'd like a UPS type setup since I have a projection...
Sup fellas,
I've been looking at buying an Onkyo 809 receiver (to replace the current yamaha) to help set the foundation of a surround system. Got some noob questions though.
1. Will bi-amping (since the receiver is capable) help the front towers (RTi12s) as far as bass output and just general...
John, Honestly will a better receiver fix my issues?? Will more wattage drive my speakers and be good for music and movies?? I like the idea of a microphone to make all the adjustments automatically for me cause I'm ignorant in that area!!
Man I appreciate the suggestions! Looking very seriously at a few of those listed! Any suggestions on where to make the purchase from?? Is there a vendor that is associated with this forum that you all recommend??
Well I took the bi-wires loose and reinstalled the gold binding on the posts. Did it to one speaker just to hear the difference and of course there was no difference. Well, I wish there was something else that we're missing but I suppose I'm gonna just have to break down and buy a sub.. or...
I just have not purchased one yet. It is in the plan though. I'm slowly building up a system as $$ comes available. I just made the assumption that these towers could slam on their own and lack of a sub wouldn't be missed greatly until one is purchased.
 First let me tell you what I've got and go from there. Got 2 Polk RTi12s and a yamaha rx-v371 receiver. Had them for a few months now and I must say music, movies, and games all come through crystal clear. My wonder is that it does not appear to have the bass that it ought to. Can it...
Fellas, Got a quick question. My laptop only has the monitor out and USB's. The Plasma TV we have has a USB port, RCAs, and HDMI. My question is will the USB show on the screen like the monitor or HDMI would? I'm using it partly for outlines and presentations from my laptop. Any ideas??
Got another one for you then! My receiver has different modes. One w/ out a sub that puts more bass into the towers, one w/ sub and extra bass in the towers also, then of course one w/ sub and extra bass off in the towers. The last mode would probably be more in line with what your describing...
I'm sorry if I keep asking the same question diff ways J, but a sub is going to help my current towers work better? Even the woofer part of them will work better??? Thanks for you patience and info man! I'm just trying to wrap my head around this!
Well my speakers have 3 woofers in each and I just thought an amp would pull more out of them. A sub is def in the mix very soon, didn't know that would loosen up more power to the towers when I sub is installed!!
My receiver is listed above. Can you add an amp after the receiver?? Budget is in the couple hundred range lets say. Also, by small I mean a small foot print.
