Have not checked the room levels yet, but for being stock, it has a ton of punch for such a large room. Few questions. The signal lights on the front of the amp, should they always be on or only when a sound is passed through the line? (I am coming off my subwoofer out rca on the receiver to a...
Ok I will just pickup the radio shack SPL
Sub should be here next week and I dropped the MDF off at the laser shop to get cut.
For the polyfill, can you just put in pillows or do you need to remove the poly from the pillow case?
I need to do a bit more reading on all of that stuff as I am building the box, going over my head a little bit.
Will this being doing the same thing as REW?
I think I still have an SPL meter somewhere from my car audio days.
I read somewhere about programming freqs into the BFD to use it as an EQ, seems like the lower cost way to go.
Ordering up the maelstrom 18, we shall see how this goes :)
Thanks for all of the help, I am sure I will have some more questions.
After doing more reading today it seems like the 18" runs rather nice in a sealed box around 7-8 cubic feet. Maybe this will be the best way to go. Also seem like a few people run a DEQ-2496 along with their ep2500.
Good point, my mains should be able to cover that!
If I wanted to push the 18", how many cubic feet would a need for a low tuned setup? I may be able to work with some of the dimensions to squeeze a few more cubic feet out of it.
Thanks for the links!
Taking a tape to the area where the sub could be placed I would be working a box that could be 12 to 15 cubic feet, not sure if the 18 or 21 would be better in this case.
With the 21 considering it is mostly HT based will I be missing much if I set the crossover at 80hz...
Thanks for the reply. I came across the Malestrom as well yesterday so that looks like it will be my #1 option right now. Is there any draw backs going with 21” vs an 18? I recall from my old audio days of people talking about the larger subs being “slow” but again much like the thought on pro...
I am losing productivity reading all of Robert_J's posts which have brought me to the conclusion that I would rather do a DIY sub then buy pre built. For under $1000 what do you recommend that is on the market right now? My room is 19x22 with 18ft ceilings and this will mostly be used for HT. I...
