Thanks everyone. I actually found a better deal on this unit. I purchased it for $750 - free shipping and no tax. There is an authorized Denon dealer selling these units with brand new with damaged boxes. A damaged box is definitely worth a $150 trade-off to me.
Hi all.
Due to my living situation the last couple of years I have only been running two tower speakers and a center channel. The room isn't ideal for side and rear speakers, mainly due to wiring.
I am highly considering an alternative to a traditional wire based speaker for my rear speakers...
Yes, I intend on getting additional speakers for Atmos purposes. Also the extra power would be nice. I frequently listen to music through my receiver.
Are there any better options out there for around the same price?
Thanks. I checked it out. It doesn't look as if there are any deals currently.
What does everyone think of this receiver?

Thanks everyone.
My receiver transmits 4k. Here's the receiver I have:

I just hooked up the new cable. Hopefully I can run some 4k content through it soon.
This is the description of the cable I bought. I...
Thanks again, Robert. Great info. I appreciate it.
Here is the amp I currently have, but will be most likely upgrading this in the near future. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-Receivers/Pioneer+Receivers/VSX-1023-K
I'm guessing the phase control is a software setting?
This is...
Robert, thanks for all the help. I am definitely starting to lean more towards this DIY build. I need a good project and would love to learn more about how to build a great speaker. To fully understand everything you said above, I am going into a lot in this post.
Let me clarify one thing...
Thanks everyone. I purchased the new tv and am running my old HDMI cord from my receiver to my tv. I would say it is roughly 8-10 years old. I just ordered a new HDMI 2.0 cord. Do you think I will see a noticeable difference when I swap the new cord for the old?
I may be interested in the DIY. I can cut wood fine. The only thing is, I would prefer the enclosure to be made out of something other than wood (unless wood is the best) and have a port. Also I would like the enclosure to have some controls potentially, just as any other sub would have.
Any...
I am really considering buying a 65" OLED from LG that is currently on sale. This one: OLED65B7A
However, I know that HDMI 2.1 will be released soon. I am unsure if this TV has it. If it doesn't, should I hold off on buying until next year? I know the new HDMI will get a big increase in...
I looked into preamps and external amps. I don't really understand the point of preamps. Is it meant to replace a receiver entirely or work with one? Does a preamp have any sort of amplifiers inside of it?
How would you recommend checking the sub I have now? Just take it apart?
If it has moved, it would have just been from it moving itself, which does happen all the time. It turns over 90 degrees sometimes. (I just ordered these to see if it would help...
I currently have a 12" Klipsch sub that points towards the floor. I have noticed that it doesn't have the same punch that it used to and it vibrates quite a bit.
My budget is around $1,500 - 2,000 for a new sub. I had an email sent to me the other day recommending a sub. Here is the link...
Thanks everyone. I think I will just settle for a 65". Paying an extra $7-8,000 for one a little bigger doesn't make too much sense.
I have never looked into preamps or an external amp. Could anyone go into this further and send a couple of good models?
Hello everyone,
I have been getting the bug lately to upgrade my home theater setup. Over the last ten years I have basically pieced and patched the system together. This time around I am wanting my system to work well together and purchase it systematically to be get exactly what I am looking...
I recently just purchased a pioneer 1023. It is still new in the box. My past receiver was a pioneer 1017. It worked well for me and never had a problem. Now my question is should I sell the 1023 or just keep it and wait to upgrade to something better?
Yes my friends aren't into this either. I'm thinking about doing the 6.5 or 8" Dayton. What are the steps I need to follow to make it? I know some basic with wood work. I'm sure enough to make a cabinet, but I would need to buy a table saw and the other necessary tools. I know nothing about...
Yes the 1123 has better app controls, a little more powerful sound, corrections with some zone two issues, a couple of other things, it is not a lot different. I will only purchase it if I can sell both receivers I have now and get an equivillient amount of money. Unless someone can recommend me...
Yea I've had it for 6-7 years and I haven't had one issue with it. How should I set it with the current set up I have. I just want to be able to tune my system the best I can. I'm thinking about just keeping the pioneer 1023 until I can upgrade to something a lot better $1-2k range. I do want...
