Are Blu-ray's worth the extra Money?

I actually feel this will be a moot point in a few years. Everything will be Cloud and computer based digital. Physical copies will be a thing of the past but you will be able to visit "your collection" from multiple sources....and everything will be HD.

Are Blu-ray's worth the extra Money?

It is the same with audio....shelf systems are now the standard for young ones. Very few will invest in a proper stereo setup.

    Denon AVR4308-Ci AV Receiver

Get a decent remote such as a Harmony one that is capable of macros. Actually once you assign the receiver to coax or digital it will recognize that as the audio signal....switch your tv input to whatever hdmi you are using and switch the receiver to dvd....solved.

    Buying and selling UV codes

Maybe it's just me but I have noticed this new enterprise popping up in many for sale forums.....I also noticed most of the sellers have low post counts as if the only reason they join is to sell these codes. I know of a couple members at another forum that have been burned by the seller. It may...

Wi-Fi Capable Blu-ray Player vs Streaming Devices

I have a cheap Dynex wifi br for my back porch (man cave). I find it more than adequet and pic quality is pretty much standard definition but watchable. I paid $60 for it in early summer but the deals available during the holiday season show quality players for the same price or less. By the way...

    Splitting an HDMI signal

ok i'll try to lower res and see if that makes a difference first...before buying new splitter. I don't think the lower rez will ake a difference due to the fact I can get a great pic on both. I don't get the issue until I power down the secondary monitor...I'll let you know.

    Splitting an HDMI signal

I tried to split the signal going to my living room tv to a 24" dell monitor for the kitchen. Used a cheap splitter I got from ebay and a good hdmi to dvi cable about 4' long. After setting up it split the signal but the pic on tv was fine but the monitor looked like it los the chroma signal. I...

AVR won't send HDMI Blu Ray to TV

One other possibility is a bad cable or jack on your reciever.Try switching the dvd for your directv. If the problem switches you can bet it maybe the jack on your reciever. If things stay the same then switch cables....you get the idea.

    What some people throw away

Wow...nice! I picked up a set of JBL L112 with woofer surround rot and the cabinets were in rough shape for $15 at a local thrift store. A surround kit cost me $25...refinished the cabs and recovered the grills for about another $20. These cost $1200 new in the 80's and sound awesome. They are a...

Trying to build a nice 2.1 system (5.1 Receiver)

If it's going to be a 2.1 system why bother with a surround sound reciever? You can get more for less with a nice vintage amp or stereo sperates. This will allow you to put a eq into the tape loop with no issues.

    Pioneer vsx1020k meets Bose -Help~!

Bill I see you are definitly not a Bose fanboy...lol I have cubes and am using them as rear surrounds and find them fine for that. I believe they are 4ohm and not 2. They can be checked with a multimeter. When hooked directly to the receiver just make sure the setting is set to "small speaker"...

I had a set of those Polk 5's....loved em. If you are only looking for netflix ability your tv is the only thing you have to network. As for your music you would need a squeeze box or some such device to share those files, of course if you have a mp3 player just hook that up to an aux. input that is if you chose a non networkable avr

Looking for simple living room audio suggestions.

Yep....the largest factor is budget. It's very hard to judge sound in a store like best buy and I believe they have a restocking fee for returns, walmart doesn't so you may want to see what they have.

    Speaker Receiver set up combination

Since that Pyle is rated to 2ohms this may suit what you want. If each speaker is 8ohm than hook up two speakers in parallel for each left and right channel. This will put a 4ohm load on the amp giving you the 450watts per channel. to do this take 1 of the 12" and 1 of the MCS speakers, twist...
