Mine arrived yesterday and while I haven't had a chance to watch any of them yet, breezy fun is what I'm expecting. I've already preordered volumes 2 and 3, looking forward to getting all six!
Really looking forward to these and the Maigret films, not to mention the Republic serials and Sunset in the West, Kino has really been on a roll lately! MisterLime, is there any chance that Kino might release some more Louis Feuillade serials, like Tih Minh or Barrabas? Your blu-ray of Fantomas...
Yeah, I asked about this on the Olive films thread and was told that the proliferation of bootlegs was one of the reasons that Olive didn't license any serials along with the other titles from Republic. Hopefully they'll change their minds. Spy Smasher on blu would be awesome!
At the very least they should be releasing double features of these hour-long films. I'm also puzzled as to why they're releasing the later films first rather than starting at the beginning of each series. They've done the same thing with The Lone Wolf and The Durango Kid movies.

I believe that Paramount owns the copyright to High Noon as well as the Republic catalog, but Lionsgate has retained the home video rights. So while they can't release any of these films to DVD or Blu-ray, Netflix is able to stream them through their deal with Paramount.
I watched Hell's Island recently on Netflix Instant Watch, it may not be Kansas City Confidential (also directed by Phil Karlson), but I really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the color photography and would love to see it on blu!
Just got my copy today and watched a few minutes of it. The transfer looks great, but it is interlaced. Can anyone confirm if the horror titles were interlaced as well? I know this was addressed earlier in the thread, but I didn't see anything conclusive.
I would like to see Sony release more of the Columbia serials, mainly The Shadow and The Spider's Web, but would welcome others like The Spider Returns, Deadwood Dick and The Desert Hawk.
Has anyone received a copy The Mortal Storm yet? They finally posted a clip on the website and it doesn't look very promising, kinda looks like they recycled the old video master.
Mike,
Is there any possibility that Sony might release some more of the Columbia serials like The Shadow and The Spider's Web? The two Batman titles are perhaps the best releases any serial has gotten on DVD and I would love to see more.
I bought Carson City and the Lex Barker Tarzans and at first glance these all appear to be progressive transfers. I did notice one instance of interlacing about 49 minutes into Tarzan's Peril, but I checked several other points throughout the disc and couldn't find any other occurences. I'm not...
