Sean, I was asked to do commentaries on several of my favorite episodes, and had a terrific experience. And I'm right there with you; both THRILLER and COMBAT were such exciting releases--a couple of my favorites too.

Really looking forward to Steve Mitchell's Larry Cohen documentary. I've known Steve since I did some commentary on the THRILLER set. Terrific guy, and likes all the right TV. I thought his COMBAT stuff was excellent. Stephen, very much enjoying your thoughts here.

As Sean said, that is excellent. Thank you for posting it. I like your observation about Lawrence Preston and agree completely. It's so refreshing. Also find it refreshing when Preston's eyes light up when he hears that a case being handed to him is "murder one." Such a nice human touch. Man...

They're all great, but I like Kermit Murdock; very understated and genuine plus I like the fact he's got such a unique look.

Apologize if this was already posted and I didn't see it. Interesting piece on the "finding their way" nature of the first season, and how THE DEFENDERS should be given a chance beyond that. He's tougher on S1 episodes than I am. I'm finding the great ones far outweigh any weak ones...

For me, one of the most fascinating facets of Marshall's performance is how he handles the lengthy cross-examinations. His approach with Frank McHugh is deliberate and methodical, capped by that stunning moment where his eyes light up. Marshall is so damn good at letting us see that his wheels...

Just to help dissipate that "wake" feeling, even though my contact said releasing season 2 "doesn't make sense at this point," I'm hanging onto the words "at this point" to fuel some confidence that the tide will indeed turn. It's amazing what can happen online. I'm ever the optimist.

I'm glad I'm not the only one finding these addictive. I agree, "The Crusader" is excellent. Anyone who thinks Robert Reed = BRADY BUNCH needs to check these out. I find the father-son dynamic on this series to be subtle and entirely believable.

I just heard from someone that Shout! is cutting back--as of recently--on review copies, which could explain a lot. I think a 50+ year old series needs all the press help it can get.

The last time this happened to me was POLICE STORY. I still haven't gotten over that one. But this is worse--it's a better series.
