The BD-C6900 does have two 16:9 settings for SD content: 16:9 Full (which is correct for most modern HDTVs) and 16:9 Wide (which forces a stretch to 16:9). If you connect the player to a Samsung TV and have "BD Wise" enabled, then even setting the player to "16:9 Wide," the problem persists...
I can confirm that the August Beta firmware (0816B) does *NOT* fix the problem on the Alien Anthology. The "Menu... Play" workaround still works though...

The PS3 plays the discs fine. So far, I've tested with seven players, and the OPPO BDP-83 is the worst of the bunch with the zoomed image, but on my BDP-83, hitting "menu" then "play" gets around the problem.
