Columbo Coming to Blu-ray on November 21, 2023. See Post #55!

Here's a fascinating tidbit concerning the Columbo extras situation, courtesy of another discussion forum -- Quote: All is not lost! I'm Jim Benson. When my writing partner Scott Skelton and I recently found out our months of exhaustive research, new interviews, and treasure trove of...

FEAR NO EVIL (1969) - Where is the original 35mm film negative?

Hello Robert! There is a bit of a controversy in another discussion forum that I frequent concerning the Universal made for television supernatural thriller Fear No Evil (1969), which starred Louis Jourdan and Lynda Day George. Two writers in this other discussion forum both claim that they...

    LIFEFORCE SE desperately wanted...

My thoughts exactly, Mark! I'm going to get my chance to see the lovely Mathilda May in anamorphic widescreen when I receive my German region 2 Lifeforce DVD via Amazon.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Thunderball

I simply don't understand why the title sequences are window boxed on the BR editions and squeezed on the UE DVDs when they could be presented at the full 2.35:1 in the first place. If the opening gun barrel and the pre-credits sequence are correctly framed in the digital transfer, why can't the...

GOLDFINGER : will 'missing frames' issue be fixed for blu-ray?!

But I was under the impression that the film elements for the 1995 video release of Goldfinger were also used for the initial DVD releases by MGM before the UE editions. However, the 1995 video doesn't have the missing frames flaw, but it has the very same scratches and dirt exhibited in the...

GOLDFINGER : will 'missing frames' issue be fixed for blu-ray?!

This is a most disturbing issue, MielR. I'm afraid that this particular issue with the Goldfinger UE suggests that Lowry Digital did not actually use the original camera negative for this transfer.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Thunderball

Are you suggesting that this first 2.35:1 Panavision widescreen Bond film wasn't lensed as expertly as the previous 1.66:1 widescreen Bond films? I sure hope what you've observed on this particular disc isn't due to some technical glitch in the transfer process. Maybe we should wait until You...

    LIFEFORCE SE desperately wanted...

You can add my vote for a multi-disc SE edition of Lifeforce. This film is my favorite guilty pleasure flick. Not enough can be said about the eerily beautiful Mathilda May who was absolutely perfect as the space vampiress. Thanks for all of these wonderful comments here and for the info about...

    The Man From UNCLE??

I received my boxed set from Deep Discount the day before the street date. However, I was appalled at the amount of white specks and dirt on the first season film elements. I'm only up to disc 4, unfortunately, but this is due to my duress over this lack of complete remastering by Warner. The...
