I pre-ordered Wichita from Amazon on August 5th and I'm still waiting for it to ship. No estimated delivery date yet, and the title hasn't been available on amazon for new orders for at least a week. That makes me wonder if there was some issue in producing this specific disc.
I got a bunch of stuff in the Summer Sale including Film Noir Volumes 13 & 14, a couple of pirate pictures, Buccaneer's Girl and Double Crossbones which I already had on an old Universal DVD collection but figured it was worth the upgrade. The only film in that old DVD set I don't think Kino...
I tried not to go too overboard with my order this sale:
Every Day's a Holiday (Blu-ray)
Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema X [Flesh and Fury / The Square Jungle / World in My Corner] (Blu-ray)
Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XI [A Woman's Vengeance / I Was a Shoplifter / Behind the High...
Well I'm enthused by this announcement and hopeful it will lead to many more. Gimme as many classic LT/MM shorts on blu-ray as possible and it doesn't make one bit of difference to me what order you release them in!
Worth noting, coupon code CEREAL15 works for pre-orders and takes 15% off. Helps a bit with international shipping. I've been an Al fan since I was a kid and was all about this movie when it debuted.
I knew for some time a handful of my Errol Flynn titles wouldn't play. Went through this weekend and discovered a few more that won't play. I've inquired about replacements so we'll see.
Act of Violence / Mystery Street (Only Plays Mystery Street)
Illegal / The BIg Steal (only plays Illegal)...
Joan Fontaine is one actress that really gets to me like no other. Don't remember if it was Rebacca or The Constant Nymph I first saw her in a few years ago but I think I could watch her in anything. I picked up her autobiography last year too but haven't gotten to it.
I ordered a handful in the sale myself.
House of the Long Shadows
Premature Burial
Good the Bad & the Ugly
Hangover Square
Rolling Vengeance
And The Master series came from amazon today.
I ordered The Fortune Cookie, The Glory Guys, The Hour of the Gun, and Lawman late on Sunday night, with the cheap shipping no less, and they showed up today! I didn't realize Twilight Time had a distribution center in DFW. Pretty sweet
I've been on a Japanese kick unexpectedly. In the last sale I picked up Seven Samurai, Yojimbo/Sanjuro and The Samurai Trilogy.
This time I got Kagemusha, Rashomon, Throne of Blood and Lone Wolf & Cub.
I'm considering Zatoichi but are there any other stand-outs?
I started watching this last night/this morning and am really enjoying it. Thanks to the new Blu Ray from Kino which looks great, I retired my old AC Comics dvd. The commentary tracks are a nice bonus too (there is a commentary on every chapter). I think I read in the announcements thread that...
I'm watching The Hurricane tonight and recommend it to anyone who hasn't checked it out yet. Can't go wrong with John Ford.
There are too many in the sale that I want, but settled for these
23 Paces to Baker Street
The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother
Broken Arrow (1950)...
