I respectfully disagree..
this show should have had a 2nd season.
It was the most appealing of all the fall '66
ABC shows and regardless of an 'Irwin Allen
effect' or not, I am sure most would agree that
we would have gotten several decent or better
episodes in season 2.
I would enjoy it and be...
I like your additions to Mark's story, Scott(..it makes it all the better)!
I bet you didn't have a very thrilled look on your face when you got
your suddenly not very good looking copy of The Demon Of Barnabas Collins
back from your chum...and I don't remember that particular scene with the...
An awesomely great story about the book cover photo shoots, Mark(..this is my favorite of all the ones that I have heard you tell)!
I also, shamelessly cut those issues of Famous Monsters to pieces(...and this was after they were worth something).
Now, they are worth a whole lot more :(
I am...
That sounds like a really cool book, Nick & Mark. I might have to check that out.
I'm also in the camp that feels that The Time Tunnel should not have been canceled after only one season.I believe that ABC canceled every show that had a debut in the fall of 1966, but Tunnel was the strongest and...
I remember those 16 & Tiger Beat issues very well,
my sister had a whole bunch of em and I (..being
the little kid that I was), was very curious, discovered
them and the columns about Dark Shadows
within were just so fascinating to me!
I would just stare and stare at those pictures.
I think...
I did not say that I hated the character of Petofi or Thayer David,
I only said that I agreed that his character is shown a bit overabundantly
at that point in time within the show(...while other characters such as
Angelique, disappeared).
I think that Thayer David is a very fine actor and...
Awww what a bummer, that is definitely one of the lesser joys
of the 1897 storyline... endless Petofi, when there are so many
other more interesting characters that they could have focused upon,
I do really enjoy the first five or six months of 1897, then it
starts to become quite...
The episode # 145(kinescope) had the worst audio quality that I have ever heard
in a Shadows episode!
It was a real struggle to discern what was being said.
Episode # 170 was when they had the 1st seance on DS and I loved the fact
that there were candles everywhere and that candles would...
I think you will notice that I was not name calling
anyone in my post Mark, but this is the first and
only time I have offered my opinion about the films,
I am not sure that I should....
and I certainly do not expect anyone to agree with
my views.
I am not sorry that the films were made, I...
(This is my post from the blu-ray section):
Just my point of view, (I am not trying to dissuade anyone else from a purchase):
Dark Shadows fans were 'Told'(..not 'Promised'), at least as far back as 2004
that Night Of Dark Shadows had been taken up for restoration due to finding
all of the...
Bob,
well, they were very difficult about it..
they wanted a receipt - which I do not
have after all of these years and they wanted
all kinds of information(..which made it
seem to me that this was all likely to result in a
negative outcome).
The thing that clinched them into saying 'no'
was...
They are getting very manipulative with the way they are
trying to force the consumer into buying blu-ray...
"Get these extras, get these deleted scenes....
but only on blu-ray. la la la la la!
We ain't giving you nothing but bare bones with your
DVD purchase any more!"
Yes, because Dark Shadows...
Well, I called Fox and...
they refused to replace the disc.
This stinks, it really sucks, now
I will have to buy this set all over
again, just for 2 episodes.
Fox...
They are just a bunch of hard-assed,
unfair boneheads over there.
:star:
Thank you,
kingfish and Mark.
I will call Fox and see if they will replace
the disc, I'll have to watch some of the later
episodes of season 2 for now
:star:
Off-topic(sort of), but my disc from season 2, volume 2(with
"Deadly Creature Below", The Phantom Strikes", etc.),
crapped-out and will not play at all..I have taken exceptionally
good care with these 'flippers' and now this happens?
It will mean having to spend at least $20. to buy a...
Charles,
I like your summation of the events leading up to the 1795 storyline..
IMO, you are right on the money!
I have seen all of it from Barnabas' intro forward.
What is my favorite unforgettable line from 1795?
Barnabas: "My dear Millicent..you give me no CHOICE!"
Just finished episodes...
Last night on the season finale of Mad Men, Dark Shadows
was mentioned again(.. this time by name), by Megan in
conversation with her friend Juliette(I think her name was),
as they were discussing the girl they knew who got the job
playing a bit part on the soap, their conversation went...
I believe that the color of that particular outfit that was worn for just a small
number of episodes was a yellow or creme colored top and dark brown pants....
I recall reading this in an article of an interview with Jonathan Harris
who said that he hated this particular outfit and liked wearing...
Lord Dalek,
yes, it would apply, as The Pilot - otherwise known as "No Place To Hide",
featured plenty of the Robinson's in their early crew outfits, running about
the ship and what not, once they had crashed upon the planet..footage
here was mostly incorporated into episodes 3. 4 & 5.
The...

.The Eye Of The Beholder

It is hard, I think that here are too many to choose
from, though, these are not my dad's favorites, they...
From what I understand, if the 1st season had been seen in color(..the way it actually looked during filming), the robot had a clear chest light and plain grey(..instead of red) claws.
Other than the Robinson's outfits, most of the color was added to the props and sets
when it went into color...
I wonder what it is like to be an adult and
watching Lost In Space for the first time...
it must be surreal(..I guess the drugs might
make it an easier pill to swallow?).
I think that when I was watching this as kid,
it was about trying to take in the feeling
that it was delivering...
Thanks for your comments following my post Mark and Scott,
Mark, I am glad that you got to go back and see the movie once
again, so that you could catch some things that you might have
missed the first time, especially the original cast scenes at the ball.
I had a couple other thoughts about the...
Hi,
I haven't made a comment in the forums for quite some time,
but have been a Dark Shadows fan my entire life.
My exposure to the show in the 60's/early 70's was that it was
just too scary for me to look at for more than a minute at a time,
but I was constantly exposed to merchandise from its...
Thank you Carabimero and Ethan for your replies.
I see your views on the subject and what you say
does makes sense(....with the exception of Carabimero
saying that "It would involve remastering virtually all but
six or seven episodes", they all need remastering/
restoration).
It is...
Hi,
I was just wondering if anybody has any thoughts about
this:
20th Century Fox needs to put out a 2nd DVD(& 1st to Blu-ray?)
edition of the CLASSIC series Lost In Space....RESTORED this time!!
The original release's sets(..particularly, the color 2nd & 3rd
season ones) are a...
I can't believe with all of the many years since the 3rd season of Lost In Space came out, that I didn't know that the previews were included as a bonus...maybe I just plum forgot about them being on there, if so...my bad!! It is really unfortunate that they couldn't do the same for Voyage...
I think that these comments about 'previews' on LIS and not Voyage are somewhat untrue...the 3rd season DVD sets of Lost In Space did not include the original 'previews' for the next weeks episodes. Only the first and second season DVD's(..along with the Time Tunnel), included...
I thought that it was outstanding.. for them to be able to cover so many series in this segment, versus last weeks...it made that one look even worse and had me scratching my head and wondering why?..why!! couldn't they have done a better job with the science fiction segment? I admit...
I found this to be highly entertaining, but baffling in it's structure and re-visioned sense of Sci-Fi on TV history. The agenda was obvious: Start the show with Gene Roddenberry's TV career and not with the natural genesis of "Science Fiction on TV" with The Twilight Zone and next...
