I own the Éléphant Films Blu-ray edition of Millie. Not only the audio version of the overture and intermission are still in mono, but they didn't include the Exit music. The movie looks just the same as the Kino Lorber release.
This is a great news, even though Shout will certainly use Universal's 2010 HD masters that were downgraded for standard definition for the DVD releases.
Please gentlemen... don't get me wrong. I simply expressed my thoughts about the video and audio quality of that Blu-ray, starting with Mr. Hough’s review as reference. I am not attacking his professional judgment. I am not here to start a fight or to gain members on my side. I compared the DVD...
I finally got the chance to watch Kino’s Blur-ay of Thoroughly Modern Millie yesterday. My package finally arrived safe in Canada after 16 days in transit and it was shipped International Express… So, it was really anticipated but rapidly I’ve been cooled off when I sit and watched the movie on...
Boy, I hope next year's french release by Elephant Films don't mess with the stereo tracks. This will be my second chance to get it clean. I'm going to write to Elephant about that. They take their masters from Universal. And, this is probably Universal's goof.
Mee to, I was happy to know about Bull Moose here on this forum. But when I wrote to them yesterday to check if they were shipping to Canada, they answered me today that they unfortunately don't. :(
Well, in my case, Kino sent my blu-ray of the movie 9 days ago. I was confident to get it by street day since I live in Canada. But since they have a deal with USPS, the process is so slow with them, even though they shipped using an international express shipment with tracking link. So right...
I'm sure that I am not the only one but I just received an email confirmation from Kino that my copy of the blu-ray Thoroughly Modern Millie has been processed for shipping. :emoji_yum: I'm in Canada, so I hope to get it by street date!
Nowadays, when a movie like this one is released on Blu-ray, you have the possibilities of offering two diffent soundmixes like a stereo one and a full surround mix to please today's fans.
It has been confirmed by Rob_Ray in page 11 (post 207) of this forum that Millie has simple stereo sound, which I find deplorable for such a great musical.
I was hoping and dreaming about it.
Prior to the Digital 5.1 audio for Sweet Charity in blu-ray, the movie released in DVD was 2.0. Correct me if I'm wrong.
So, was it so utopian to expect Millie in 5.1 too? It's a musical, for goodness' sake!
Thank you Rob for this precision. At least I know what to expect now. I am a little disappointed though that The blu-ray has a simple stereo soundtrack. I was expecting a true 3.1 audio mix to concentrate dialogs in the center without bleading at right or left speakers. Oh well... Maybe my next...
Thoroughly Modern Millie (Special roadshow edition blu-ray) will be available August 24th 2021. I hope fans of the movie will get as ecstatic as me!
"I Still Dream Of Jeannie" could very well be a bonus on the Mill Creek's blu-ray set because it is available for streaming in HD on the CTV.ca Throwback Channel. "15 years later" also!
If you please let me refresh that thread, now that Thoroughly Modern Millie is getting a brand new 4K lifting... for a Blu-ray release this year at Kino Lorber. And since the audio soundtrack was an issue on the last DVD release, let's hope we will get a a real surround sound this time: 4.0...
The Bionic Woman is playing on Paramount Channel France since sept. 28th. All I can say is that, unfortunately, the HD isn't that much of improvement since it shows the same recent high definition source that was used for the US DVD release of 2010 or so. The should have scanned the original...
The information I have comes directly from them, through Messenger. They are working on French subtitles for each and single episodes from SMDM and TBW. That is taking more time than they thought. And, I believe they wont wait anymore for the movie Six Billion Dollar Man to hit the cinemas...
As for the France's Elephant Films blu-ray release that was supposed to be out in 2018, it has been several times pushed back to a further date. It is now schedule for autumn 2021. It was synched with the cinema release of the remake of the Six Million Dollar Man (Six Billion...). Elephant was...
Yes well, the SD Bionic Woman is 720 X 576 in the PAL system 50Hz. It might be that your DVD ou BD player doesn't output a converted NTSC for your TV monitor. Have you tried the discs in your PC? I have been said that the picture quality was better than the US DVD release. I am still waiting...
