I purchased a 3" 120 VAC fan and spliced it with a small section of extension cord. The fan is plugged into my Denon receiver and keeps it cool all day/night. About a $25 mod (cost of the fan).

Well I've narrowed my choices down to either the Onkyo 605, 705 or a Yamaha 659, 661.

I'am also thinking about purchasing one of these to replace my Onkyo 602. But with this overheating problem I may not. I may try the Yamaha 661 or 659.

Ok. So the TV would need an hdmi output and the receiver would need an hdmi input? Right?

I'm looking for a receiver that can handle a low impendance load of 4ohms. My front L/R speakers are 4ohms. I need a receiver that can handle this. NE one know of any at a reasonable price?

What is difference if any between running sound (along with video) thru an HDMI cable vs running sound thru a fiber optic cable. The reason why I ask. Well I just recently bought a Samsung dlp tv (3 hdmi inputs and 1 fiber optic out). I have both the cable dvr box and an upscaling dvd player...

So you would use the analogue outputs vs the fiber optic output?

I'm new to the HD Game and looking for a reasonably priced HD DVD player to compliment my new 1080p DLP TV. Can ne one point me in the right direction? Thanks.
