Do more research on REGZA displays, it offers 'native mode' which fully restores the 5% of image that is lost during scaling.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Actually it is never down converted FYI. It doesn't down convert! It's manually set to a lower resoltution. :rolleyes:And what is lost during the conversion that you know of? :rolleyes
Costco online has the Westinghouse for $800. But I wouldn't recommend it. I was going to get it (b/c it's 1080p & has PIP) but I read reviews of the black levels being weak, PQ looks better at 720p, it lacks one of the over air tuners, and few input connections. This is listed as a monitor...
it takes the 1080i signal and internally upconverts it to utilize the 1920x1080 display. Generally 1080i & 720p have one million pixels. It take those signals and upconverts it to the two million pixels it can display. It won't take a straight 1080p input, probably because there's no way around...
720 & 1080 are the amount of pixels on the screen. So when you have 720p on a 42" tv, it is noticeabley worste compared to 720p on a 32". Because the 42" has more space on the screen it can go into the finer detail because the image is spread across essentially more of the LCD. Lets be simple...
The smallest 1080p set you can find would be the 25" Regza or the 32" Sharp. That is fullHD 1920x1080. You should be able to find these sets within your $$ window. Also if it helps only samsung and toshiba offer PIP in major brands. Your price range is almost like mine. I'm either going to get...
I have narrowed my choice to a 40" Samsung 1080p or a 42" Toshiba 1080p. The reason I've quoted you is because only these two brands offer 'PIP' or even better 'HD POP'. :emoji_thumbsup: I also plan to use the same connections - 360, PS3, cable, PC. So, yes, I'll have the football game running...
