Oh, speedtest.net has been a daily presence as of late. Actually, work is 6meg, my house is 11meg! However, some things like DirecTv boxes and access points are always drawing on bandwidth. Cell phones, too, now use wireless where possible to reduce their 3G/4G data use. And, yes, its cable so...
Good news! Thanks. What would you suggest be my next move if I am getting balky streaming video? BTW- just for the sake of completeness, the Samsung TV is 10/100, confirmed by Samsung.
Actually, I have no idea on what supports what. I just did some checking and the Samsung gives no data on speed. However, the Panny setup has a network setting section that does allow for only the following settings: Automatic, 10base duplex, 10base half duplex, 100base duplex and 100base half...
I distribute the internet via wire in my home. I have a 6 MB/s cable connection and use Cat 5e or Cat 6 wire. I am upgrading my switches to gigabit and they have indicators that show if the line is 100Mb/s or 1000. The inputs all show as 1000, but some devices do not. I am using Netgear GS605...
I need to check some of the other devices in the house. No Roku (et al) but do I have capable TVs. They just won't be hooked up to an AV system. Too bad my TV doesn't get Netflix. I had gotten a Panny (G13) that was supposed to be built for the future with VieraCast and three months later they...
Hey, John, all in due time. If the PS3 goes, I will put my Sony BD Player back and try it again. You mean that different devices stream Netflix differently? Different interface or technicals?
Larry
Yeah.....
What is a 69-76? If that is a model, where could I view its flow chart? Doesn;t come up on Google, though.
To make matters even a little more confusing, I tried a different program on Netflix that is also only stereo but it is decoded to surround by Neo6. Seriously, I would have lost...
OK. I checked and "straight" is off.
I went to the info on p38. It is clear that the programming of this receiver is far more complex than I ever imagined. Did Yamaha ever issue a flow chart of the programming? I do well visually (LOL).
Anyway, I did find that going through the Standard and...
The PS3 is model CECH-2501A. (Is that OK?)
The Audio Output Settings: I have checked Dolby 5.1, DTS 5.1, AAC along with the apparently default PCM 2.0 44.1 and 48kHz. Should I also have the PCM 2.0 88 and 176kHz checked, too?
Thanks
True, But it is 1.1 and, besides, I would need more inputs than the two. It is a 5990. My mistake.
I set in on Neo 6 and I still only get L/R.
DPL- Dolby ProLogic? Standard Enhanced is DPL. No surround. Thanks
I am not a total nube but this question makes me feel like one.
I use my PS3 for Netflix. Since my older Yamaha HTR-5990 receiver does not do HDMI switching, I have the PS3 audio connected to it via optical. I am watching a show on Netflix that only has stereo audio. The receiver shows just...
They are on opposite ends of a long, heavy cabinet. The BD player went into the same location that the PS3 was. Just had to put the converter on the end of the Toslink and add a short length of coax to plug into the BD player.
So, are these converters bad (when used properly, that is)? I plan...
Figured it was likely to be the converter and it was. Apparently, they are directional. This one is optical in/coax out and I was trying to use it the other direction.
I have never asked but are they converters detrimental to the SQ?
I just got a BX-510 BD Player and the audio output is connected to my non-HDMI 5.1 receiver via digital audio out. I have an optical cable that was previously used for my PS3 and then used for a Samsung BD Player that I did not keep. I got 5.1 with both.
However, this new Sony has a digital...
I own a pair of Brain L810 3-way speakers and love them. However, over time, they seem to have a growing level of sibilance. My guess is that the cause is failing crossover parts, but, really, I don't have a clue. Both speakers seem to "sibilate" , in unison.
Can anyone chime on this problem...
