Harman Kardon AVR 430 suddenly shuts off

Well, I got my reciever back and it's working fine for a day and half now. The repairman said he talked with HK and they told him my problem was vurtually the same problem that the AVR 430 is prone to, a problem with the wire from the heat sink to the bias processesor. Apparently it's a...

Harman Kardon AVR 430 suddenly shuts off

I have a HK avr435 and after 6 months it started to freeze up. Premier HK dealer soddered some points and problem was fixed. Then 3 weeks later it would not stay on for more than 20 seconds. No problem with power to the unit. Repair guy said it did the same thing for him but after he took it...

    NAd vs Arcam

The difference between the HK and the seperates I had would not be described as dramatic but important for me. The HK is slightly grainy on vocals while my seperates were crystal clear. But I would like to emphasize slightly. My impression of the HK is very food for the price however, it's in...

I have owned the B&K ref 30 with a Marsh and B&K amps. It was good but "it left me wanting more". I have heard the anthems in stores but I was never that impressed with the sound although I probably have not heard them at their best. When I switched to an older Classe pre I started to here...

    "musical" recievers?

You might consider a Nad which is supposed to be very musical and have a stronger thicker sound to it. It may not meet the WAF in appearance but it's built well and may get more out of those speakers and be exactly what your looking for. Good luck

    NAd vs Arcam

Thanks for your response. A/V reciever or seperates. I know what the HK avr435 sounds like but have never heard a Nad and there are absolutley no dealers of the Nad in my area at the moment. So I am just trying to get a good idea on what a Nad sounds like relative to what I have heard. Rob

    NAd vs Arcam

    NAd vs Arcam

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate your idea with using an integrated for the mains-interesting. My impression from reading and talking to people about the Arcam is that it is deatailed but thinner than the Nad which may be less detailed but with a more solid, thicker sound. With my seperates I...

    NAd vs Arcam

I am looking to upgrade from my HK avr435. I am impressed with the articles and some reviews on both the Nad and Arcam. I have not heard either. I mostly listen to music and am thus looking for musicality. The problem I am having is that I recently had to sell my seperates ( Classe SSP 30 MKII...
