I know there are a lot of classic movie fans here in terms of movies from the 30s and 40s, so this is a great month for them. I'm REALLY hoping they will make it an 80s/90s slate some month where every movie is from that time period. It seems like ages since we've had announcements (plural) from...
Nothing for me this month. Slightly disappointed because there wasn't anything I was interested in last month either. Happy for those that found something they wanted. I was hoping for at least 1 contemporary title but I guess that was used for "The Flash" even though that's TV not film. ~sigh~...
Yes, I really hope it's soon. In the next batch of announcements would be great.
If it's anything like the restoration of "The Long Long Trailer", it will sell so well they will wish Lucy and Desi had made another technicolor movie. LOL
I would absolutely LOVE to see a Complete Series set of this show as a companion set to AITF! Shout is re-releasing "The Jeffersons" but I am doubting they will put any money into an ABP set. BUT, if they did, I would probably buy 2 copies as I love the characters so much. Would be great to make...
Did you buy that as part of one of the Doris Day multi-pack movies? I recall buying the same and several discs were defective. I bought "Lucky Me" separately and my copy still works (printed at different facility from the IPFI code in the center). I also backed it up to be safe as it's one of my...
Still hoping for "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" or "Lucky Me" with Doris Day!
More Elvis! And "Forever, Darling" with Lucy and Desi ("The Long Long Trailer" on BR is perfection!)
While we're at it... some 80s classics would be great! It's been a while since they have released any 80s...
Same here. The story always delivers all the emotions for me as fresh as when I first saw it. It appears this may be with Studiocanal. Not 100% positive on that but that is who licensed it in Germany. I've thought about getting a copy but heard some negative comments about the audio on that...
I saw this one in theaters when it was released in 1994. Loved it back then. Already ordered and Shout is already shipping these out. Looking forward to seeing it again!
Are we certain there will be new announcements coming up this week or next? I figured maybe we wouldn't since the release delay of several of the recently announced titles.
That sounds promising! I hope someone has it "in the works". But I wish Paramount would stop dragging their feet on the Elvis movies they have. Warner has been moving faster having released "It Happened at the World's Fair", "Spinout" and "Double Trouble" pretty close to each other. Hoping more...
I had heard that as well but I haven't watched the bluray in a while to remember. I recall someone saying the streaming version was edited. Is it the frontal nudity that was edited or unedited in the uncut version?
I would love to see it on BD soon. It's a favorite of mine. Kino or Criterion...
As I couldn't find any other threads on the topic of this movie, I thought I would go ahead and create one for anyone who is interested in seeing this gem come to bluray. I did some background homework and it seems like Paramount now owns this title. I had purchased the first U.S. DVD release...
I believe episodes of Angel were released on dvd previously but only as an exclusive through Shokus Radio. They were only selected episodes and I kept meaning to buy it back then but kept forgetting and also wasn't crazy about it only being selected episodes. Glad I waited though because I have...
I am so excited for this! I cannot wait! Will pre-order as soon as I see the announcement. The scene at the museum in that episode is worth the price of admission alone. LOL
I'm anxious for ANGEL especially since the first volume has the episode with Rusty Steven and Joe Besser in a scene together! LOL That's a must-have!
We won't be hearing any announcements for a while thought, is that correct? So when is the earliest we will hear about a proposed release date for...
Same here. Watched it in first run when I was very young. I always got a kick out of Ted Knight's comic chemistry with JM J Bullock.
Of further note on the edits, I discovered something more over the weekend. I have 3 out of the 5 VHS tapes that were released sometime in the 90s. I thought...
I agree. I often hear “why do people still buy dvds?” When remastered properly, dvds can look fantastic. They may not be as exquisite as blurays but when some things are only available on dvd (certain movies or TV shows), I have absolutely no problem watching a DVD.
I started from Disc 1 and I gotta say that I am really enjoying re-visiting this series. Brings back a lot of memories and Ted Knight is hilarious!!! 😆 Already the first 3 episodes have made me laugh a lot.
Puzzling that Season 2 is syndicated here. Not sure how Rhino was able to get the...
UPDATE
So the set just arrived. Obviously, I haven’t had time to view full episodes or check each and every disc but, so far, I have found the following:
The first 3 seasons appear to be syndicated cuts. Yes, even the second season which was unedited on the individual Rhino set. So if you have...
That was my calculation too. But I also have the Gimme A Break and Kate & Allie sets that VEI produced. Both of those say “49 hours” on the back. I know GAB was nearly complete except for 1 tag scene. K&A was missing a few tag scenes. But both seem to be incorrect in their listed running times...
Is there the slightest chance that this could be released on bluray by a very unexpected company (i.e. Vinegar Syndrome, Shout Factory) as oppose to Kino (which I guess might want a shot at releasing it)? I'm just wondering if someone would jump at the chance considering the remastering has...
I'm eager for the set to arrived. Mine was shipped. But I'm a little concerned because 44 hours divided by 129 episodes calculates at 20 minutes an episode. Whoa! That's as edited as it could be aside from releasing a DVD set of mini-sodes. Remember when Sony was including those on dvd sets? I...
Actually, it will be a little different. They have done this so far with Maude, All In The Family, The Facts Of Life, Punky Brewster and a few others. The thick cardboard case is replaced with a thin flimsy cardboard case. The plastic cases are no longer individual for each season. They group...
I would love that too! Unfortunately, MR. BELVEDERE is a 20th Century Fox show which means it is now under Disney's control. Sadly, it means we will not see anymore releases on dvd unless something changes drastically with TV-on-DVD sales and Sony's new agreement with Disney. I guess we're lucky...
VEI has been doing a great job with TV on DVD recently. They are pretty much the only company keeping it alive. I'm in for "Too Close For Comfort". Looking forward to it. Only Rhino's First Season set was made up of syndicated episodes. They made sure Season Two were the complete broadcast...
