Well Jim, I guess I'm going with the HC1500. Lets hope it will work/focus in my room setup. Last question, how does it look mid-day with the light creeping through the blinds?
everyone says slightly. Describe slightly. Like barely noticeable, or is it a discernible difference? Mostly though, how much of a downgrade will it be, if any, from a regular 720p lcd, plasma, etc tv?
I am looking to upgrade, in size, my 30" CRT high def LG. I am looking to give a projector a try. I have been reading every review and thread I can find. It seems everyone on here buying one doesn't use a high definition source. I plan to use my PS3 and I do not want to get a poorer image than...
So I decided to go with the klipsch setup and I think I am going to foot the cash for a SB-12plus for $700 or MAYBE the PB12-NSD/2 for $900. I was also debating two PB10's, one in each corner of the room. I don't even know where to start on these SVS subs:crazy: They are located in Rochester...
Are SVS subs really that much better?? I am looking at paying about 230 bucks for the Klipsh sub with a 3 year service plan which replaces ANYTHING. I know a 12" from SVS is like $800-1000. Plus if I did buy an SVS I would def. buy the dual because thats how I am, and they run like $1300 if I...
So I am completely overhauling my 5.1 speaker setup. I am debating between a Klipsch setup or a JBL setup. Here are the two possibilities: floorstanders: synergy III dual 8" 2-way $850/pair center: synergy III dual 6.5" 2-way $314 surrounds: synergy III 6.5" 2-way $314/pair subwoofer: 12"...
Can someone explain the deal with this lossless or near lossless dolby digital plus, dolby digital HD, blah blah blah. I am debating on buying an HDA1 or an HDA2. The one and only thing that would sway me toward the A1 is the 5.1 analog out. With my current receiver, Denon 787, I know I can't...
Not trying to ruin your day...but I thought you might actually want to sell this so I figured I would fill you in...but amazon has these for $306 shipped.
dibs! First a few questions: So you have verified that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it except you had a bad HDMI cable? You the original buyer? What does it come with (original box, manual, etc)? What firmware update does it have if any? Any estimate on usage hours?
I have my mains "bi-amped" via my Front A and zone 2 connections. Receiver has an option to set it so its supposed to be a true bi-amp. Is this a waste of time or could it possibly help a bit? I have no need for 7.1 or zone 2 so thats not an issue.
Ok so the A2 is thinner and smaller than the A1 but maybe that new compact case comes with some disadvantages! Read this http://www.highdefforum.com/showpost...05&postcount=1 I posted it in another thread and would like to know if this guy knows what he is talking about? He seems like he...
I too am in a debate as to whether or not I should get the A1 or A2 because of the analog 5.1. I wasn't too worried about it until after I read this http://www.highdefforum.com/showpost...05&postcount=1 Can someone who knows there stuff read this and verify? If this guy speaks the truth maybe...
I just got a denon 787 and the user interface is very hard to get used to compared to my old pioneer. The guy at CC said people bring them back all the time because there are typical family guys and they and/or their wife can't figure it out. ex: When i was setting up the digital in inputs I...
You are very correct but I would think most people buy their HT equipment expecting to get at least 2-3 years minimum of use. In another year or two I will likely find you a truck load of movies. I guess it's a double edged sword though because in another year or two there will likely be HDMI...
Some may call these changes superficial, I think its worth it! Deep Color™: HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths, up from the 24-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification. * Lets HDTVs and other displays go from million of colors to...
The more I look the more models I want. Due to the fact that I have a $200 circuit city gift card I am sticking with them. Now in question is their 3 $500 models. Onkyo 604 had for $450 Pioneer 1016 had for $450 Denon 787 had open box for $379 Due to the price I am HEAVILY leaning toward...
I am about to rip my hair out! One thread says the onkyo 604 does this, the other says it doesn't! ex: "If you can stretch your budget to $320 then you can get the Onkyo SR604 which has 2 HDMI inputs and handles audio over HDMI up to 5.1 LPCM. You can get it for $320 from accessories4less.com...
Well the budget is no more than $500, but of course the best receiver I can get for the best price is key. Speakers polk monitor 40 mains, polk CS1 center, polk monitor 40 surround, JBL venue/northridge 12" sub. Medium room. I can get the onkyo 604 for the same price as the pioneer, only...
Looking at the Sony A/V Receiver (STR-DG800) which I can get for $324 (originally $399) or the Pioneer HDMI/XM Receiver (VSX1016TXVK) for $450 (originally $499). Is the pioneer worth paying the extra $125? I'm upgrading from the bottom of the barrel pioneer. They lowest end model, VSX515.
Also I know this is a lot of info at once but I was also considering the monitor 70's which is 3-way and comes with 6 1/2 drivers and mids. The only thing I'm worried about with these is I don't know if they will be timbre matched to my CS1 center channel and monitor 40 rears?!?
So I was running some crappy 3-way sony towers with an 8" driver, 5 1/4 mid, and 1" tweeter. I upgraded to 2-way Polk monitor 40's with two 5 1/4 mids and a 1" tweeter on stands and the upgrade is absolutely AMAZING! The polks blow the sony's right out of the water. My only issue is I miss the...
I would be leary of that CSM as only god knows why polk made it a 4 ohm center and may put a strain on your receiver. Other than being 8 ohms, the CS1 is timbre matched to your M30's. Just a thought...
Is the upgrade from the CSM to the CS1 worth an extra 60 dollars? Mains are monitor 40's with a 1" tweeter. CSM has a 3/4" tweeter while the CS1 has a 1" tweeter.
WOW I have some big news...well for me anyway. Many people will claim this to be unethical but I think when a store screws up it's their loss! I went in to circuit city to perhaps buy a pair of $300 monitor40's. I go over and they have 2 sets of open box M40's. One pair is a bit rough...
I'm not completely ignorant with home audio as I have always prided myself with the car audio systems I have had. I have also always had a receiver and surround with main towers, center, surround, and a sub. But now where home theater is going with HD and DD2, etc I decided to step up my game...
