On ear or over ear headphones with noise cancelling?

So I received the Sennhauser HD-280 and in the house they are amazing - really good sound quality. They were also a touch under $100 from Amazon with a 2 year warranty). A bit tight but that has reduced. On the plane...first flight I was next to the engine - could see it out of my window - I...

On ear or over ear headphones with noise cancelling?

In the end I picked up some Sennhauser HD280 Pros from Amazon. They claim to have excellent passive noise reduction and several reviewers have used them on planes. So I have those and the el-cheapo Sonys with NR and the original iPhone buds. I'll review all 3 on my trip next week and post...

On ear or over ear headphones with noise cancelling?

That explains one thing as it was Radio Shack which had these and they were very poorly reviewed ANC7

Can you suggest any with good noise isolation?

On ear or over ear headphones with noise cancelling?

Damn I was afraid of that - maybe I should just use my buds and get some decent noise protection ear phones over the top!

On ear or over ear headphones with noise cancelling?

Hi Guys, I am looking for some decent on/over ear noise cancelling headphones preferably under $150. I love my Apple ear buds, but for the most part do not like "jamming" something in my ear, especially for watching a film on a flight. Bose is outstanding but not in my cost/benefit range. I...

60" LED TV? Yet another thread asking which one someone should buy!

Yes exactly what you said Schan... Plasma cannot deal with significant directional light, same as my rear projection system.

60" LED TV? Yet another thread asking which one someone should buy!

Panasonic also had a 4 dolor cat set in the 80s...quintrix. my parents lasted for 20 years. Plasma will not work for me due to the ambient light. LCD is not desirable as it cannot do local dimming, plus led back lighting is more power conscious. I really am not fussed about the sound....but it...

60" LED TV? Yet another thread asking which one someone should buy!

Hi All, I currently have a 55" rear projection Mitsu HDTV. The picture is great (but of course not so good with the curtains open), but the space saving combined with the light output is drawing me to an LED picture. I am not interested in "LCD" or Plasma. Sound quality has to be good enough...

Mitsubishi Rear Projection not turning on reliably

If it were just the response to the remote (of which we have 2 - one from Verizon and the Mitsu remote) that would make sense. But the problem is also an intermittant issue when using the physical power button.

LCD v LED v Plasma, lots of choices!

For the right TV the price of the VT25 isn't unreasonable, theGT series also reviewed well and was way cheaper. VT20 could be an option. FOr now...I have to wait until our RPTV shows more signs of dying, but by then I will know what to go out and buy!

LCD v LED v Plasma, lots of choices!

My AV system is a Pana solid state receiver/amp, with Mirage Omni's for the LR and Center and some older Energy for the rear channels. Velodyne sub. The amp is not as nice for music as my Marantz which lost its center chanel, but it is not bad at all and it is really very nice for movies...

LCD v LED v Plasma, lots of choices!

It looks like our TV may be dying. We currently have a rear projection. I know there are likely a gazillion web opinions out there, but HTF offers real peoples' opinions. Main use will be TV, DVD, perhaps hooked up to the computer for video. NO gaming. About 50" display with abudget...

Mitsubishi Rear Projection not turning on reliably

Hi All, I have an older Mitsu Rear Projection TV (DIamond Series, purchased in pre-HDMI days in 2003). All of a suddent its response to the remotes *and* the front power button has become intermittant. When we get it on, the TV works fine. Since the problem is also with the physical...

    Connecting PC to TV

I have a DVI-I port. But no converter (since I purchased a card only package). So it looks pretty simple, DVI-I to VGA converter at the PC and run the VGA cable to the TV. I'll do a dry run with my lap top first just to make sure we like the look of what we see! Thanks.

    Connecting PC to TV

Thanks Steve. You've brought up more things than I considered! > Which connector are you using for your PC monitor? The VGA (my monitor is an old CRT) > Are you sure it's only S-Video and not a DIN connector with a dongle available? (this could give you component capability) Yes very...

    Connecting PC to TV

Hi, I have a PC with S video, DVI and VGA outputs (1 of each), plus a single output for the sound card (standard 9mm jack) and firewire. I would like to connect the PC to my Mitsubishi Diamond series rear projection TV, which has component inputs, VGA and firewire. Distance between the two is...

    Were to buy Pana SA-XR57

Hi All, It's time to get a new receiver. From my reading and from how I use my receiver (50% DVD and 50% music from the iPod hook up, DVD player or radio) it looks like the Pana SA-XR57 is a good buy for me. I do plan on hooking up an old tape deck to it, but that is going to be for future...

Need Help Linking SA-XR57 with Older SA-XR55

Hi Tim, Sorry I don't have an answer for you. I do have a q in my neverending search for a new amp/receiver. I'm sure the Pana XR's do a great job for movies, but how are they for music? (Assuming you have decent sized speakers and not little cube type things) Some people say they are great...

    Sony Receivers

Looks like a good store - thank you. Of course I found several models all in or around my range: 2106, 2805 but also 1082/3802 and sipping for such a heavy item is pretty reasonable as well. Too many choices and not enough local dealers!

    Sony Receivers

Thanks. I'm going to check at the local Sony outlet center and see if they have one hooked up. Shame about my marantz :frowning:

    Sony Receivers

No the budget is not $800...it is $500. But with employee discount I can probably get an $800 Sony for $500 or less. So that puts me in the price range of a Denon 1907. I'd love an Outlaw or NAD...but beyond my limits right now.

    Sony Receivers

Thanks - so is there any advantage to upconverting? It doesn't seem like it. I can understand the advantage of progressive, but not upconverting and adding in information which isn't there to begin with!

    Sony Receivers

But Paris Hilton is dumb - she probably has a Monster system with Bose speakers. LOL a gucci store is the one that essentially showed me the door as they didn't have any "entry level" HT receiver/amps for under $700. You know the kind. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot around where I am...

    Sony Receivers

LOL plenty of dealers sell Sony, but very few have them hooked up and if they do, they have crappy bose speakers to listen to. Go to a gucci store and they snigger when you tell them you need a receiver/amp for $500 or less.

    Sony Receivers

OK, OK I know they aren't NAD or another gucci brand, but I do have a neighbour who works for them and can get a healthy discount, enabling me to get more receiver for the buck than I could otherwise. I'm wondering if anyone has opinions on: Sony STR-DA3100ES/B - AV receiver - 7.1 (retails...
