Yes exactly what you said Schan... Plasma cannot deal with significant directional light, same as my rear projection system.

Hi All, I currently have a 55" rear projection Mitsu HDTV. The picture is great (but of course not so good with the curtains open), but the space saving combined with the light output is drawing me to an LED picture. I am not interested in "LCD" or Plasma. Sound quality has to be good enough...

If it were just the response to the remote (of which we have 2 - one from Verizon and the Mitsu remote) that would make sense. But the problem is also an intermittant issue when using the physical power button.

For the right TV the price of the VT25 isn't unreasonable, theGT series also reviewed well and was way cheaper. VT20 could be an option. FOr now...I have to wait until our RPTV shows more signs of dying, but by then I will know what to go out and buy!

My AV system is a Pana solid state receiver/amp, with Mirage Omni's for the LR and Center and some older Energy for the rear channels. Velodyne sub. The amp is not as nice for music as my Marantz which lost its center chanel, but it is not bad at all and it is really very nice for movies...

No the budget is not $800...it is $500. But with employee discount I can probably get an $800 Sony for $500 or less. So that puts me in the price range of a Denon 1907. I'd love an Outlaw or NAD...but beyond my limits right now.

LOL plenty of dealers sell Sony, but very few have them hooked up and if they do, they have crappy bose speakers to listen to. Go to a gucci store and they snigger when you tell them you need a receiver/amp for $500 or less.
