I am one of those people who love having bonus features added to the TV-DVD sets. In fact I will often hold off purchasing a favourite TV show if I think it may be re-released with bonus materials. For example I held off buying the French "Pretender" sets in the hope that the R1 release would...
Yeah! Season 2 has just been released in Australia (R4). Picked up my copy yesterday and the good news is that the R4 release is on 6 single sided disks (not double-sided as was the R1 release). Almost through watching the first disk. This is one great show. Holds up very well. Not...
Appreciate people posting about the problems with the S2 disks. Thank goodness I resisted and didn't buy the set. It would have cost me a fortune to get a replacement set (or sets) from the US, since I live in Australia. Hopefully they'll release S2 in R4 soon and revert to single sided disks...
Thanks Aryn. If CHiPs S2 isn't released in R4 I am going to be sooooo tempted to buy the R1 (double-sided) release if it does come on sale. S1 was so much fun to watch, I actually brought an extra copy so that I could give a set to my sister who also loves the show. Cheers Helen
Aryn, I take extremely good care of my disks. The problem is that many of us have friends or family to whom we like to lend our disks to. Unfortunately friends/family are not always quite as careful as we would like them to be. While my single sided disks are robust enough to lend out, I am too...
I hate double-sided disks. Even when you get a set that are trouble-free they just take too much extra care to keep scratch free. Much as I love this show, I'll be passing it up. Hopefully the R4 release will be single-sided. Helen
I love this show and I purchased all the R1 seasons as they were released. While I agree it would have been much more preferrable to have the episodes uncut etc, I didn't find them as bad as some have described them. I found them all totally watchable and enjoyable. Didn't notice any problems...
The following was posted on one of the customer discussion lists on Amazon: "Eric D. Williams says: I have the British version of season 3 and the deletion of the commentary is NOT due to a music rights issue, but the comments John Barrowman says about president Bush. Around 38:00 after...
I really want this set, and have been severly tempted with the Amazon sales, however I keep resisting because of the double-sided disks. At the price they are charging I can't believe they were too stingy to use single sided disks. I nearly always have problems with double-sided disks. I was...
Looks like I am in the minority here, but I actually liked this show :-) I was also a fan of the original BG, but found that I liked the 1980 BG as well. I will be definitely buying this when it gets released. For the record I am not a fan of the newest BG. I found it had a) too many changes...
I just finished watching CHiPs S1 a couple of days ago. I loved it! It was even better than I remembered it. I had forgotten just how funny the show was - or maybe, watching it previously as a kid, many of the jokes went over my head :) Can't wait for Season 2! CHiPs and Emergency! have...
I can vouch for EzyDVD as well. Living in Australia I am lucky enough that I can visit their stores, but on occassion I have also ordered online from them with no problems. As others have said, the are not necessarily the cheapest, so the trick is to look out for the sales they have every...
Not sure if they are syndicated versions - although they appear to be uncut. All three pilots are not presented as movies, but as double-length episodes, with closing and opening credits between Pt1 and Pt2 of each pilot.
Some advice from an Aussie :-) If you do buy from Australia, make sure you buy the "slim case" version of Season 1 of 6M$M. They originally released the show in a digipak. That version only contained one of the pilots. Around a year later they re-released the show in a slim case (all 6 disks...
I would love to see the tv-series of Starman released. I loved this show when I watched it as a kid. Unfortunately it isn't even shown in re-runs any more.
I checked some of these episodes as well, after the reading the comments here and on amazon. I haven't checked all the episodes yet, but of the ones I have checked, they all run between 49:30 and 50:00 minutes. Doesn't look like things have been cut - however I haven't seen these episodes...
My main concern is that the site doesn't become an advertisers' haven with endless pop ups and spyware being loaded on my computer. There are many tv show sites I stopped visiting for this reason. Even mugglenet.com (the harry potter website) has this annoying pop up that comes up every time I...
I used to love this show and eagerly purchased Season 1 when it was released. Unfortunately I watched the pilot and then part of the second episode and haven't been able to finish it. It doesn't seem to be as good as I remember. I will give it another try - maybe it gets better as the episodes...
That would be SOOOO annoying. Thanks for the warning - I have been tempted a few times to buy them from Amazon because the price was so low. I am glad now that I didn't buy the sets. It also looks like the Region 4 (Australia) baywatch sets that are being released next month are supposed to...
In Australia most TV shows up to 6 disks, are now released in what we call a "slimline" case. The case looks like a normal movie DVD amaray case except that it fits up to 6 single sided disks inside. The disks are easy to remove because, unlike the digipaks which have overlapping trays, these...
This is one show that I am eagerly awaiting as well. It is one of the few shows that I took the trouble to tape when it was on TV. In fact I taped it twice :-), once for me and once for my sister, who is also an avid fan. It will be nice however to have it on DVD, much easier to watch and the...
I guess I am lucky as I am finding that I am enjoying more tv-shows on DVD that I did when they were on free to air tv. Some of these include: Doogie Howser: I couldn't get through a full episode of this show when it originally aired, but I have loved the show on DVD. No idea why :-) Hart...
While I agree that the Digipaks tend to have better art work, the cardboard covers just get dog-eared too easily and the plastic trays keep coming away from the carboard cover no matter how carefully I treat them. I like the double-slim cases for all the reasons everyone else has mentioned -...
Well my S1 set is 212 mins as well, so it could be alright. Maybe S2 had the extra changed after the DVD artwork was done - either that or the people doing the artwork got it wrong???
I recently purchased the R1 S1 and S2 of "A Bit of Fry and Laurie". While I have enjoyed the episodes, I am a little confused about the extras. According to Amazon.com (where I bought them) and the back of the DVD covers: S1 is supposed to include the "1987 Christmas Special". My copy only...
