Weird, that's too bad. Apple is good about replacing or fixing defective hardware, so I wouldn't be too concerned. This is why I tell people to avoid Revision A machines, because they get to be beta testers without knowing it. ;)
I really don't get all this arguing about specs and stuff, and here's why: I own an iMac with a 1.8GHz PowerPC single-core G5 processor, which is already outdated. It has a Nvidea FX5200 GPU, which again isn't great by any standard. 768MB DDR RAM, not even DDR2. An 80gig SATA HD. This...
As a teen and a Mac user, there isn't anything about the internet that annoys me... ...Well, maybe those old people who clog up these message boards with crap about speakers and amps that I can't afford. ;)
This company, SoundSplinter, uses wholesale TC Sounds drivers and cost less. Don't be scared by their web-page, they know what they're doing. I second the 12" driver recommendation, maybe even a 15"? ;) The RL12 would work nicely.
Ok, this will be my first "real" HT and music setup. The requirements are that everything should have a very low visual impact. I've been researching for months, learning stuff and piecing together the best budget system to fits our needs. Sounds first, then HT. I'll be making an in-floor...
EDIT: I just looked at the Cult of the Infinitely Baffled and they have answered most all of my questions. What type of 15" driver would you recommend? Looking at getting 4 of them.
I've been reading a lot about Magnepans and think that I've settled on a 5 speaker system. The issue then turns to what type of subwoofer I should use with them. I've been looking at SVS and their powered cylinders, and I think that they would work well. I was then reading about the wonders of...
It has pre-outs, so later on could I add something like an Emotiva amp to add extra power? I don't think we (the family) could tell when a planar speaker is underpowered, they aren't huge audio purists.
Cool, I think I'll call them today and see what they recommend!
Ok guys, I'm 16 and I've never listened to a maggie (or until recently heard of Magnepan) How would my family like the sound from them? We are trying to build a very low visual impact system with a PJ, but the audio is giving me headaches. My dad doesn't want any floorstanders or bookshelves...
Somewhere on Audioreview.com they had a discount code for the MMGWs, the MMGCs and the MMGs. PM me if you want it, or just look on www.Audioreview.com under "Hot Deals" I don't know what the code is good for though, you may just get a hat or something...
I've scoured their website for a way to make an online purchase of the MMG W, but come up empty-handed. How do you purchase Maggies straight from the website??
Seriously look into the Logitech z5500 5.1 system. I have it and it is much better than my friend's Philips HTiB. A 10" sub makes the sound "bigger" and generally more pleasing. I got mine from Buy.com for $210 shipped, so not a bad deal at all! EDIT: Oh, nevermind. Looks like you're already...
I was just wondering how much wear and tear it will add to planar or electrostatic speakers. I also hear that the sound isn't very good with bad sources anyway, so even if I use the nice speakers it might still sound worse than the Radioshack speakers. Am I doing more work than it's worth? I...
Hey, I'm building my first real system (non-HTIB) and I need some help. I want to put some nice speakers that can be used for music and HT, maybe some maggies or other nicer speakers, but I also need a pair of cheap in-walls to deliver stereo sound for when I'm watching TV. I will be using a...
As I said, it really is a personal choice. Some people just don't feel the need to change. That's fine for them, but for others that have problems or are looking for something different, the Mac is the way to go. :) It's strange that your roommate's mac is giving him problems, is it an older...
It seems like lots of people go out and buy expensive PCs and accept the reality that they will have problems. Whether they get infected with spyware, crash frequently, or just plain don't work well, people with PCs have problems. I was one of these people just less than a year ago. Viruses and...
Dude, have you never heard of Apple computer? They make the best quality desktops and laptops around. I've never had trouble with my iMac, and people I know have had laptops running years on end without having to reboot due to crashes or problems. Save yourself a real headache and get a Mac...
Wow, that's pretty cool. My house is about 20 miles from Ft. Riley, and they love to shoot off their big guns. We have things rattling and shaking all the way out here! I once was on the fort for a football game and we were around the firing range, and they blasted off a shell that made such...
You should see my house! It was built in 1910 and has wires running through old gas lines. Most of it is that nasty fabric-coated stuff that's a pain. I'm luck to find usable 2 prong outlets, not to mention 3 prongs! My plan involves lots of replacing and manually grounding outlets. Oh well.
Just make your own webpage and do it exactly how you want. I did mine on my iMac and it wasn't hard at all, and I tried to keep it simple. :) http://www.colinrosenow.com I like this format much better than those bloated MySpace sites  How do you like it?
The Northridge series were more marketed toward the Best Buy crowd, and so they were sort of shunned by many audiophiles. They weren't bad speakers, but they may have been lesser quality than the higher-end JBL studio series. I sent you a PM btw.
