    Denon’s HDMI 1.3 Receivers

    thank you, Neal.

    Denon’s HDMI 1.3 Receivers

Well, I found a thread on AVS that says you can do the new hd audio formats if the receiver has multi-channel analog inputs or if it has the ability to properly handle multi-channel PCM. Does anyone know if the 804 can do the latter, since it doesn't seem to have 5.1 analog inputs. A month or...

    Denon’s HDMI 1.3 Receivers

I am still learning about Dolby TrueHD and DTSHD. I have an HD-A1 and am thinking about the Onkyo TX-SR804 receiver. I assume you're saying I can enjoy those audio formats without waiting for an HDMI 1.3 receiver. Can I do it with the 804 without quality loss compared to the new HDMI 1.3 way...

    if you had $2000...

Jee! Ok, no more speakers suggestions, please. Just kidding. When I think I decided on which to listen to for evaluation, a new opinion is posted. I actually am enjoying looking at all the speakers you guys recommended, starting with the Paradigm from the first post to AV123 in the one just...

    if you had $2000...

Thanks, Terry. Those are questions that I meant to answer in the previous post. The room is 20' x 14'. Mainly movies, but after having XM Radio for free for 3 months in my car, I got hooked on Jazz/Funk/Instrumental, so I might be buying music, too. Let's say movies 70% / music 30%...

    if you had $2000...

Hi, all, Wow! Thank you all for the replies. Great info. Some of those pricier-looking Swan speakers look awesome, like the Swans F2.2F, which I can't seem to find a price for or a seller. The Pioneer 1016TX looks great. I went to BestBuy and saw a Sony STR-DG800 for under $400 with...

    if you had $2000...

Folks, I would like your opinion. I have a 1080p DLP TV with HDMI input. I have a JVC RX-6008V receiver which I bought as part of a HTIB 6 or so years ago (http://books.jvcservice.com/download...4391/21338.pdf) with the small and not-so-good speakers and subwoofer. I am happy with...

NEW HD-DVD owners: Please post your reviews here for members considering purchase!

Hello, Back to the original thread topic. HD-A1 firmware Version 2.0, I think. By the way, Maintenance>Update shows 2.0/1.0A/2.0S. Why three numbers there? Anyway, when I try to update again, I get "already up to date." Boot-up took an eternity. It takes my HD-A1 a full minute. First...

finally got an HD-A1. DVI/HDMI problem

Thank you very much, Rick. It worked. 'Matrix Reloaded' looked pretty good on 720p output. What was interesting on it was the HD-A1 would only switch between 480p and 720p, and not 1080i. I put in Pixar's "Cars" and it switched between all three... Thanks again, Rodney edit...

finally got an HD-A1. DVI/HDMI problem

Folks, I have a Panasonic PT-AE500U projector. There is a DVI cable pulled through the wall already, so my only choice for HDMI was a HDMI-to-DVI adapter that's female-DVI and normal HDMI. One male of the DVI cable is in the back of the projector. The other end male DVI cable went into the...

Best Receiver for the Toshiba HD-A1

Alon, I just want to thank you for this piece of info. I had been looking for reviews on audioholics for months on the HTR series, but always find the RX reviews. Is the RX-V2600 also badged as a HTR? Thanks, Rodney

Toshiba Moving Forward on 45GB HD DVD Discs

that's dissapointing, since I now have an HD-A1 and am planning on a Toshiba 62HM196 1080p DLP set. Do any of you know how this set performs? Is it one of the "fewer and far between"s? Is 48Hz the so-called refresh rate? I see refresh rate specs on pc monitors, but not on HDTVs, at least not...

    HD-A1, HD-D1, and RCA HD-DVD players

from what I've read here and elsewhere, the HD-A1 and RCA HDV5000 are the exact same player with different outward appearances (if you open them up they are the same). They're both Toshiba-made.

Amir's interesting take on Triple layer HD DVD (45GB)

For an ignoramus like me, the above was informative. Thanks. My 2 simple questions: - the current HD DVD titles some of you guys are lucky enough to watch: what is their bitrate? - what is the capacity of the current HD DVD discs? Is it 15GB? Thank you, Rodney

    HD-A1 on Sony 720p LCD

Folks, I am trying to convince a friend about the HD-A1. No, I don't own one, but I saw it in action at BestBuy on a Westinghouse LCD and was amazed. My friend has a Sony forty-something-inch, 1280x720 native resolution LCD display. It has HDMI. I do not know the model number. He should...

    walls and software

Hi, all, 1. I hate construction, tearing down walls, etc.. I want to make my walls to where they help make the sound better. Is there a material that can simply be "stuck" to the wall, like with self adhesive that will help? 2. What is a great sample music cd or dvd that I can use to show...

    Question on upconverting SD-DVD

Well, thanks, Cawdaddy, for phrasing it that way. I thought that it DID upconvert to 1080i through component. It stinks that it doesn't, since I currently have a 4-yr old 53" Mitsu CRT rearProj TV with component. Been considering a 1080p DLP display, so this may be a big reason to get it.

    HD DVD: 1080p

Travis, I really appreciate your quick and concise reponses. : the reason I asked that question is because I'd like to buy the HD-A1 now, and I didn't want to later feel like if I had waited for a 1080p player, I would have gotten a better picture on a 1080p display. Thanks again, Rodney

    HD DVD: 1080p

Hi, all, Compared to most if not all of you, I am an ignoramus when it comes to home theater technology. I have been reading a lot on this forum, trying to learn and understand. I am trying to make a decision on a player. I have a 4-yr old Mitsubishi CRT rear projection HDTV with component...

Reading first impressions of Samsung player in US

The demo disc I saw at BestBuy was very poor. Chicken Little had big square artifacts, almost like tiling which I haven't seen before but in local ota HD feeds. They were most noticeable on dark green backgrounds. When the picture had bright colors, it looked pretty good. They were playing it on...
